The team had a solid game... Bryz gave up one really soft goal, but also made some decent saves.

I just finished the game.

-Great team effort

-Couturier and Read were fantastic on that shorty, I'm amazed they had all that time. I'm increasingly against trading Read unless it's for something irresistible. He's good at both ends of the ice, and underpaid for the ability he's brought.

-Of course Powe scored And of COURSE Bryz lets it in the net. Come the hell on. He NEEDS to make that damned save.

-Speaking of Bryz, I didn't think he looked terribly great tonight. He looked really small on the Powe goal, which is normally a routine save for most goalies. At other times it looked like he had no idea where the puck was. Tonight should have been a shutout; still, only 1 weak goal is MUCH better than his usual 2-3 weak goals. Improvement, I guess. Against a better offense, they could have taken advantage of him tonight. Still looks shaky at times.

-Schenn is quietly having some good games.

-Good performance defensively, albeit against a depleted Minnesota. They really limited their chances.

-Holy hell Hartnell already has 20 goals.

-And SUPERSTAR had a great first period.

Just came back from the game and really enjoyed myself. Couple points:

-G line looked amazing, especially Jagr. They were connecting really well, just couldn't finish. G could have easily put up a 4 point night, hope this is a trend in the right direction and they're getting out of the slump.
-I thought MAB played really solid.
-I knew Powe would score lol, stupid Powe.
-Bryz had a good game, happy to see him not really lose it and pretty much be "in it" the whole time. He seemed to track the puck pretty well in skirmishes, and (I think) I remember him making a really nice 2 on 1 save in the beginning of the game.

I'm shocked to come on here and see people bashing Bryz after 1 goal. I don't care how "weak" it was, you don't complain about a 5-1 win. I think at this point, some people just want to criticize him. He's one of the last people you should talk about in a 5-1 drubbing played entirely in the opposing D's zone.

Seriously, sheesh. I can see if he has a bad game, but 1 friggin' goal? That's something worth complaining about? Jesus.

The soft goal is worth mentioning because of how bad this guy has been.

Had the flyers not walked over the wild the one soft goal could be an issue

I don't know how well he played because i was only listening to the feed, but from what i heard he made some solid saves. Now i realize he gave up a pretty weak goal (actually saw that), but can we say this was at least a good game on his end?

Are you guys kidding? Most goaltenders in the NHL wouldnt have stopped that shot.

The only thing I can say is that if BOB was in net there is still no guarantee we would have have a shut-out. It's actually impossible to speculate that. Maybe Bryz saved a couple of shots that BOB would have let in? There's so many variables that nobody can say for sure it would be a shutout. The goal Bryz did give up was somewhat weak, but it looked like it went off the blade of Mez stick. Still should have been saved. Good overall game by everyone, including Bryz though.

Are you looking at replays from the wrong game? Even Breezy's biggest defenders on this board agree. Ya the puck was tipped, but it was tipped from the top of the left circle... and it was a Darrol Powe slaphot. It wasnt like it was a laser.

The goal against was plenty bad, but it was just the 1. All things being equal, it's a shuffle-step in the right direction. Good team dominance against a team they should have dominated.

Yea it was extremely hard to tell if it did or not.. Comcast only showed the slow mo replay once and Clement didn't think it was deflected.

For once I watch a Flyers game with the other team's announcers, and I'm not ridiculously annoyed. Really didn't mind those guys at all.

My initial reaction to Powes goal was "holy **** that was a rocket" and not "bryz is terrible" like most people seem to do. Yes he has played bad, but even on top of his game hes not going to post a shutout every time. That was a laser that may or may not have been deflected and it went in the perfect spot. Should he have had it? Maybe... You take that shot on every goalie in the league and I'd say its 50/50 on who saves and who misses. He even got a piece of it.

All that aside, I thought Bryz had a good game. He looked shaky a bit, but he does seem to be getting better with confidence, this game can only help. Also I am very tired of all the talk of Bryzgalov sucking. What is the point? The only reason to talk like that constantly is if you honestly think he won't get better ever. If you think that then you know nothing about hockey so what's the point?

"Oh bob would have gotten a shutout if he played."

Really? 1) you have no idea... 2) thats exactly the type of shot Bob does let in... (anything above his shoulders) 3) id rather have our #1 goalie get some confidence and get back to the reason he was paid so much (because there is a ****ing reason hes paid like a #1) instead of having Bob play, maybe get a shutout and Bryz still have 0 confidence.

GET OVER BRYZGALOV. Why don't we all talk about how Ryan Miller is never going to be a good goalie ever again and Buffalo should trade him immediately because hes never been good ever.

Also I was thinking... maybe Bryz should use his white pads again... as a shooter I would think coming in on a goalie wearing all dark pads with only white behind him... isn't it easy to see where to shoot?

I wear black, orange and yellow pads (looks much better than it sounds), and I noticed peopl shoot at my pads more now than my old white pads.

There's studies that show colorful pads attract the shooters eyes. Granted that doesn't make an ounce of difference because you're talking about brown pads.

Guest I just felt like talking haha. Maybe he should get some bright orange pads!

I've heard two theories: one is that white pads make it harder for shooters to see where the pads are, and therefore lift the puck over; the other is that colored pads attract the shooter's attention and they shoot at them.

Better game by G's line.

Voracek seems to have the potential to end up with a hattrick many games and only has 7 goals. Good to see him get one.

Bryz was fine unlit the soft goal at the worst possible time.

Gus looked good.

I really like Simmonds control of the puck and stickhandling lately.

Jody Shelley is a power play SUPERSTAR!
