Oscar Lindberg was loaned to Sundsvall Hockey in the Swedish second division (Allsvenskan). The loan is apparently to get him some more playing time, and will last for 14 days.

I would call the Lindberg trade a mistake were it not for Werek's AHL performance this year.

You really think it's enough time to say that trade was a mistake or not?

Too early in the game for that one, lets see how Lindberg reacts. Ebbs and flows in most prospects careers. This day and age we still talk numbers and 'consistency' like these are things that are reachable for all prospects at all times of their development.

Having said that, I liked the Werek pick, but since the trade I've been okay with this deal. Lindberg projects as a Center and I think Werek is a Winger.

Miller with only 1 assist in his last 5 games.
St Croix zero points in last 4.

The slumping players.

Ethan Werek has what, 4 or 6 points?

Trade wasn't a mistake- we got a guy who if all breaks will be a great 4th line center for a guy who I thought would be a fringe 3rd liner, like a physical John Mitchell and whatnot.

Another nod toward improved decision making by NYR front office - out of 4 players turning professional this season in Horak, Werek, Bourgue and Hagelin - it seems so far that they kept the right ones (or at least the right one...)

Miller might be slumping on the scoresheet, but he's gotten into 2 fights. One of them was actually pretty good. I really see him as a Torts-type of player.

Lindberg's faceoff prowess is vital, but his stats are very disappointing after his promising start to the year.

I still think he'd slot perfectly between Boyle and Prust, as well as being used for big draws. He has size and is a talented player, that injury seems to have derailed him.

If anyone cares Jerry York is going to be on the Pipeline Show tonight talking BC hockey, good chance Kreider will be mentioned.

I wonder how much his preseason injury has had to do with that...

From what I remember he had an excellent preseason until that injury.

Fasth going down is going to take almost a year out of his development too. It's important we give them all the time they need to polish their game before coming over to North America. It is vital for these young Swedesh players to be mentally prepared for the AHL. It is a little different for these players, being so far away from their families just to play in the AHL. They need a good start to make the transition as seamless as possible.

Why is it disappointing? I don't understand those statements at all. He is playing in a top-3 league in the world getting bottom-6 ice-time. He projects as a 3rd/4th line center. I would say he is developing on schedule.

Just because Fasth was lighting up the league doesn't mean Lindberg has to do the same. Different situations.

I am still happy with the trade.

Here is the Jerry York clip

Begins 5:40

http://www.thepipelineshow.com/clips...York_Jan17.mp3

When Kreider signs with the New York Rangers, they will get a more polished player than they would've if they had rushed him a year or two years ago. Physical size. Characteristics of a player in the NHL. 6-3 225. Excellent skater. Now he is learning the game better. Play in all 3 zones. He'll be an excellent addition to the Rangers whenever he decides to leave.

He can only leave school after his junior year. After his senior year,Kreider will be graduating. Not leaving.

IIRC wasn't Kreider taking courses during the summer and adding courses over his last 2 yrs so he would have enough credits to graduate after his Jr year. I thought his plan was to graduate early and then sign w/NYR after BC finishes their season. I expect to see him w/Whale sometime in spring of 2012.

Yup. The plan was to get his degree this Spring (and with that, sign).

BC has two summer school sessions of 4-6 weeks each. Kreider attended both sessions. Gordie Clark said Kreider is taking a full course load this year. Both semesters. Clark expects Kreider to turn pro. He made those comments on MSGs coverage at Traverse City. Kreider skated with the Rangers players in late August to show his commitment to the Rangers. Clark made those comments after Kreider skating with the Rangers.

Quote:
“I hope I get to the NHL and play with these guys sooner rather than later. I’d really like to be at this level. It’s something you dream about as a kid. But right now I want them to know my commitment is there.”

“I just want to win games,” said Kreider. “If I focus on that, everything else will fall into place. My only goal is to play at a level that will help us win games.”
http://www.snyrangersblog.com/2011/0...o-the-rangers/

York made similar comments about Kreider in December

Quote:
York said the confidence that Kreider earned each season was critical to his second-half success both years. That success, though, nearly led the oversized forward to head to the NHL, where he is property of the New York Rangers.

Instead, Kreider decided to work further toward his college degree and, in doing so, has become one of the most dominant players in Hockey East.

“He was trying to do what he felt was best for him when he combined the academic goals of getting a college degree with his aspirations of being an NHL player,” said York. “He looked at both situations and one more year of college hockey where he could become a more dominant player while getting a year closer to a degree, that was something he was very well aware of.”

You like to see progress from your younger players. There has been no progress in his offensive game, from all accounts, and he was receiving less ice time than the previous season. And now, he's on loan to a second division club. His season is disappointing in that his game didn't show much of any progress. That doesn't necessarily mean he still won't become a good bottom six player in the NHL, but it isn't the encouraging development I was hoping for.

EDIT: It's not that dissimilar from Werek, who also showed little offensive development.

JT Miller was scoreless again. He's in a real funk.

St. Croix just scored a natural hattrick

Nice way to break out of his slump

Lindberg was scoreless in his first game down in HockeyAllsvenskan. He was a -1, and won 11 of 20 faceoffs.

His FO% in the Elitserien was at 49%, rather paltry for someone who purportedly excels in that area.
