Not looking to hi-jack the thread but if anybody plays ice up in Westchester/Rockland/North Jersey and needs a goalie for pick-up or as a fill-in give me a shout. Thanks.

Paramus NJ has an Olympic size outdoor rink with some of the smoothest asphalt I've ever skated on.

Join the group! It makes it a lot easier to RSVP and so we all get a gauge at how many people are going to show. Its been great the past few weeks.

Coldshot, you live in LB?
Father's side of the family does. LB, Island Park, Oceanside. Was just at the rink today, actually.

Where the Ice Rink is, same complex, right where the basketball courts/baseball fields are.

I wasn't fond of the people who play there. Plus the rink does not dry after it rains because of the uneven surface. George Harvey park rink in whitestone is the place to play outdoor pickup.

We don't have anything for roller hockey where I'm at. Of course, there is an ice hockey rink around every corner but those outdoor roller hockey rinks look awesome. We played road hockey/street hockey on our roller blades in front of the house.

Glad I'm seeing this thread, just bought a house up in Quogue. Is there still game out by hampton bays?

If so: does anyone have any details regarding it?

And anyone know any other games within an hour of Quogue?

Red Creek Park in Southampton.

It's off 24 I believe just north of Sunrise. You make the right where the police yard is and it's right next door on the left hand side.

Same here. I think I have a pair of old skates with outdoor wheels on them somewhere. With football ending in the next few weeks, this could be something good to do on a Sunday afternoon.

I was going to join the Sunday afternoon ice hockey league at The Rinxx.

Any decent 'beginner' roller leagues? I usually go every week to the park by me just to skate and shoot but I never really liked hitting up a pick up game alone...

I have been to the rink in queens right off the Whitestone expressway though, pretty fun there.

my advice for any beginner roller players is, play as much pick up as you can, because if you go into a league cold, your gonna get burned. ive seen it happen so many times.

How often do you go there?

ive just started getting back into playing roller hockey, i moved out here from CA about 5 years ago and dont know anyone that plays really, this thread has been super helpful so thanks guys....
as far as east meadow/levittown area i just got turned on to a game behind the fire house on Gardiners Ave in levittown just 2 blocks south of the turnpike, im gonna play for the first time MON night at 8pm... its def on asphalt and not a rink... i checked out a few of the rinks on here last night (fri) and the baldwin rink is nice.. even after 2 days of pretty good rain it was dry, no lights but there was enough light from the basketball court to have a nice quick skate.. i went to long beach after that and even thought there is lights it was empty i didnt skate but the boards looked 10x better than the baldwin rink.. the surface looked very nice though.. its well worth the drive out there...ive also heard of a rink in Allen Park in Farmingdale as well but havent looked at it... thanks again for the info guys hopefully ill see some of you around the rinks

I play deck hockey @ Rapid Fire Arena in Moriches. Decent facility. About 20 minutes from you in Quogue (I live on Pleasure Drive right down the road from you)

I live about 5 minutes away from Rapid Fire in Center Moriches. Pretty nice place. There also is an outside rink behind the town elementary school, which is even closer for me. It's not the greatest, but its still pretty nice.
