He may not have any future with the organization, but Bickel is an asset and sather knows this. If he feels there is any chance Bickel could be claimed I would guess he will stick around as a healthy scratch till the trade deadline.

I'd say Bickel is less likely to be on next season's roster than say Stralman. We can find another Bickel type player, while a D that can move the puck and fits in nicely on a bottom pair or even top 4 with injuries is better than someone who is playing limited minutes on the 3rd pairing. I couldn't care less if Eminger gets waived and claimed for the simple fact we have Erixon if we have that many injuries. Bickel can go back down too and I doubt he gets claimed. Worse comes to worse and we need to trade for another D at the deadline, we can do it.

Tortorella said Sauer was day-to-day, which is how the team referred to Marc Staal for at least a couple of weeks before he returned from a concussion.
Quote:
Sauer gave his timeline this way: He got a concussion, he was away from the team for 2-3 weeks, he tried to workout on a stationary bike, the symptoms returned, he was away for another five to six days, he tried the bike again, more symptoms, then he was away for another week.
Quote:
Sauer said his symptoms included: nausea, headaches, bed spins (he described it as the feeling you get on a roller coaster), loss of memory and a propensity toward being forgetful, an inability to focus his vision properly and an aversion to bright lights.
Sounds like the morning after partying with Russell Brand.

Sauer might dump the visor. Phaneuf hit Sauer's visor which caused the helmet to pop off. Sauer said this was his 2nd concussion.

Why, was Sauer bored and extremely annoyed?

Good news that Sauer seems to be improving.

Need him back soon. Bickel continues to crash back down to earth with every game. People who are advocating a full-time spot for him when the backline is healthy need to seriously reassess.

Agree about Bickel. He tries hard, but is seriously lacking in a lot of areas. While I'm happy he's had his moment in the NHL, I really don't want to see him on the ice.

I'd take Eminger over Stralman, and both over Bickel. I'd like to keep them all, though that's not realistic.

Erixon does not look NHL ready though.... Certainly doesn't look comfortable enough to play his game or be much of a contributor out on the ice... Rangers not in a position to rush him when they have better options in the short term.... At this point I'll take Bickel's physical presence and consistent defensive efforts over Stralman and Woywitka's contributions.... Haven't seen Bickel do much to warrant no PT late in games, but Torts just doesn't completely trust him yet, and he has a lot of guys who can log a ton of minutes that he can defer to.... Eminger can be contributor too..... Woywitka and Stralman I don't see as better options than the other aforementioned players...

Stralman>Eminger>Bickel.

Stralman isn't great, but he brings something that helps this offensively moribund group.

Sauer is MUCH better than anyone of them.

All Rangers on ice today in Greenburgh, including Sauer, Eminger, Woywitka in non-contact orange again #NYR. All three skated Tuesday too

I don't see why not. There are other teams that carry 8 D. The play-offs will hopefully be a marathon. Let's not forget how ravaged Vancouver were at the end. 23 roster spots: 8 d + 13 f + 2 g. Dump one of WW/Christ.

Play the big 5 + Stralman or Eminger depending on form. Keep Bickel in the press-box for emergencies. Send Woywitka to Hartford. Let Erixon develop at his own pace this year. If he forces his way to NY at some point, revisit the situation.

They may also make a trade for a PP guy. One of the bottom 3 would have to go the other way or to Hartford.

I have the M11 helmet. The padding inside is 100% better then any other helmet I've used.

Woywitka is still dealing with the bone bruise suffered against PHX five weeks ago this Saturday. The Rangers shut him down last week. He skated yesterday for the first time in a few days.

Agree on Sauer, except I think the cracks are beginning to show a little bit. Bickel has really tailed off the last couple of games and Staal will need more time to be in his "real" form. They were a horror show in Montreal, "standing out" among a plethora of poor performances. Bickel was only marginally better last night, getting his time cut to 7 minutes.

Have you been hit hard with the helmet on? The reason I'm asking is because I wonder if you feel a difference compared to traditional helmets.

Sauer did not skate, was not in the room. Obviously, Torts will be asked later today if there's any update. Wouldn't go nuts on it yet.

I saw Sauer interviewed by Jim Cerny after practice yesterday and he looked fine. Maybe he has some soreness from 3 days of skating after being off the ice for 6 weeks. Hope he's OK.

If Sauer is ok and Eminger and Woywitka also are fine after the All Star game then Bickel is down. I would bet Woywtika on a two week conditioning assignment to hidge him from waivers

Stats: The Last Two Games For Stu Bickel
by Adam Rotter on January 19th, 2012 at 11:25 am In the last two games, Stu Bickel has played a total of zero minutes and zero seconds in the third period.
