Sabres' Miller: "I have not and will not ask for a trade"

http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=385418

Quote:
"I have not and will not ask for a trade," Miller told TSN's James Duthie via a text message. "I will fall on the 'Sabre' before that.

"Please no one ask me again."
I thought this deserved it's own thread. Stop proposing Miller trades, please. No way Regier trades him unless he requests one, which Miller says isn't happening.

And no, this isn't typical media response. This is as concrete as it gets. This is not "no, that report is inaccurate." or "no, that's not entirely true".

This is "I HAVE NOT" and "WILL NOT"...

I WILL FALL ON THE 'SABRE'

He's all in? ME TOO. LET'S ****ING GO. TURN THIS **** AROUND. I'm done questioning his commitment. Established. He needs to pick up his play, as do the rest of 'em.

He's always been like that. He needs to play better, but he's not even the main problem. The slackers on this team is unbelievable. We need production from more than Pominville and Vanek if we are to win games, and some nights it doesn't even look like our team deserves to play in the NHL.

Glad to hear that from Miller. Ya stafford, Roy, leino, etc need to get going, but miller means the most to this team

So that's why he didn't return to the bench, he was looking for a Sabre to fall on.

It's not his decision if he gets traded or not.

Anyways I enjoy his enthusiasm and I know hes been trying to win but he just hasn't had it this year or last.

Meh. Hooray for average to slightly above-average goalies making elite money.

I wasn't even including this season, in which Miller has been godawful, in my prior assessment of his game.

Yep, there are. And Regier isn't going to move his franchise goalie for table scraps, so Miller has power to torpedo the first 8 teams Darcy could deal with, pretty much nixing any possible move.

Probably for ****piles. It's not happening unless Miller requests it, which was just put to bed.

Noone can fault him for that. Now if only his performances in the crease would start to reflect it.

I believe him when he says he won't ask for a trade.

But there's a difference between words and actions.

Not really. I mean if you eliminate the teams that already have an elite goaltender or a goalie playing good neough. Carolina, Boston, New York, Nashville, Vancouver, New Jersey (though on the decline), Dallas ( Lehtonen has been amazing for them this year), L.A, Pittsburg, Detroit. Eliminate Toronto and Ottawa (division). Really there are only about 9 teams that could pick him up. Columbus, Tampa Bay and Washington would be the most likely 3.

Miller provides a written list to Regier. He can't just knock down teams out of spite.

He does provide a written list, but while writing that list he says..."I don't want to be traded....which teams need a goalie? Now which teams need a goalie, and are good trading partners with buffalo?" Then vetos the top eight on that list. Pretty much kills the list of teams that would trade for him....

I don't know the specifics of Millers contract, but generally a player has to provide such lists before the season.

Great ability to mis-quote English. The full quote:

Quote:
"I have not and will not ask for a trade,"
Perfectly acceptable. Would "I have not asked and will not ask for a trade" be more grammatically correct? Possibly. But let's finish the sentence and see what else we find...

Quote:
Miller told TSN's James Duthie via a text message.
So we're going to sit around and pick nits over the finer points of someone's text message grammar? Seriously?

Disclaimer: If this was all just an excuse to rip on Lurch Chara, please disregard the above and carry on as you were.

I'm pretty sure that the GM comes to the player and asks for a list if/when he decides to try and trade him.

yeah how does providing the list work? Does everyone with a limited trade clause all walk in on say september one to submit their list, or edit the list from the previous year?

Its not like in mid january if darcy is considering trading he then goes to ryan and asks for a list. That would be an awkward conversation hahah
