how realiable is Marinaro in knowing the Del Piero is coming to montreal. I like like the impact roster now but adding del piero even at the age of 37 would be so important for the fans.

Talk of Delpiero signing for Mtl is a rumor at this point. Everyone talking to me about it but I have no confirmation. Just a rumor folks.
Wouldn't say so. We have a great, big Italian community in Mtl. Also the owners are Italian. Finally, I might be wrong but I think Italian players are less drawn by money than guys like Becks and mostly attracted to heritage and community.
Its stupid to think only NY or LA can attract big name players when Saputo is the third richest owner in the MLS behind LA and NY(trails NY by less than 500milions$). People need to understand that splashing cash doesnt guarantee success, as proven by Henry in New York.
While Montreal does not have the quality of life of either NY or LA, it has unique aspects that could be attracting to some players. Money is NOT a problem. Saputo will sign anybody if he thinks it will be benefical financially and on the field.
Montréal doesn't have the same life quality as LA or New York? My guess is you haven't been to either city, cause Montreal is a lot more beautiful then either of the 2. You can add that it's more by far the most European city in North America, so the alone should get international stars. Marinara is a fraud though, I won't make the mistake of believing anything he says. Del Piero for 1 or 2 seasons would be AWESOME though.

Maybe for the average person the life in Montreal is better, but for a millionaire? Pretty sure we are a step below NY and LA.

I don't buy it. Saputo's marketing team just ****ing tweeted they're not ready yet. And then they sign the 2nd biggest fish on the MLS potential DPs? Nah.
all depends how long he would be signed for. A year or 2 max wouldn't be a bad idea however Luca has slowed down big time in the last 2-3 years and injuries have caught up to him

Pretty much. If there are players that would want to play in Montreal it's Italian players. This city is beautiful and has a big Italian community. Let's not forget that Mr. Saputo was able to land a game against Ac Milan just months ago, we are talking about a top 3 team in the world. This guy can make things happen, I wouldn't put my money against him
I would also like the impact to be a bit more creative and explore more options. Marsh should make a trip to south america, africa and Asia. There are damn good players there, the DP doesn't have to be a superstar from a marketing standpoint, he should be the best player on the field!

So tweets about Del Piero and Goal.com news about Luca Toni. They might be old but you're garanteed to have the attention of St-Leonard residents along with crowed Little Italy on game day lol.

I completely disagree. We're not anywhere near having a team that can compete for the championship, so for now our 2 main focuses are on developing our bunch of young players and building a much needed, bigger fanbase. Nothing gets a québécois more hooked on a sports team than following star players. If we had 2 of Toni, Del Piero, Cisse, Drogba, Lampard, Occean and so on and so on, new fans would buy tickets simply out of curiosity, and that would be a GREAT thing for the team and the actual fans..
I would had traded him back to Houston for Hainault and draft Mattocks, a pure sniper.
Attackers can be had threw DP spots if you really need one. Impact are starting in a new better league with the best defensmen from the 2011 AND 2012 draft. With the mentality that you build a team from back to front, it doesn't get any better then that IMO.

Montréal is NOT more beautiful than NYC. I go to NYC every 2 weeks for business and pleasure, and NYC doesn't even COMPARE to Montréal. Montréal's comparable is Boston. No city can compare to NYC. Not even close. And certainly not a village like Montréal.
