Don't think we need to add any... unless we're taking this list to 50.

He's still there.

I haven't even looked at any other names besides Kurtenbach for awhile now.

I am looking for old 22 Tiger's name on the list. I assume if you guys are down toward Bobby Schmautz he must be on the list already

They weren't as bad as many think (or assume) they were. The 70's and 80's were a cap-free era where dynasties were common, and league politics were even more of a gong-show of crybaby owners than they are today. Since '94, Canucks fans aren't happy with anything less than the Cup. And they ***** and moan about all past teams because of it, while Easterners traditionally have either ignored or looked down their noses at west coast hockey and are more than happy to blindly join in on the crapping on our past teams.
Canucks were Cup finalists in '82, and Smythe division champions in '75 - long before Bure or Linden showed up. Look at the club's top scorer stats. Many of those guys (Smyl, Tanti, Gradin, Lever, etc.) whose totals compare to Bure, Bertuzzi, or Adams got it done during the dark days when the Canadiens, Islanders, and Oilers dynasties were stomping all over everyone else in the league.

15 consecutive losing seasons. There were some bright spots, but mainly it was pretty bad.

Yeah they had to play with bit a "rigged game" but having bad ownership, management, and coaching meant it was a 'no win' situation.

1982 was an aberation year - a fluke. The two top teams were knocked out of our playoff bracket (including the Gretzky Oilers). Canucks were still a below .500 club that season. In 1975 & 1976, the Canucks benefited from being the "best of a bad lot division" - eg., the infamous Kansas City Scouts were in our division (they made the Lowe managed Oilers look like Sam Pollack by comparison).

I remember Schmautzy more fondly than the Tiger. Outside of Williams' 30 goal year, I mostly recall him taking penalties all the time. Especially when we were on the power play. And although he was an above average shift-disturber, he wasn't much of a fighter. Was he one of the top 50 all-time Canucks? Probably. Top 30? No way.

Honestly, Schmautz probably wasn't top 30 either (Lever, Kurtenbach, Skriko and Gelinas are more deserving forwards), but he was my favourite early days Canuck. He played a hard-nosed game (wandering across the "dirty" line from time to time... but, hey, it was the '70's), could score at a decent clip, and was an okay fighter. During the dark days of the '70's he was was one of our bright lights... I don't know if I can say the same about Tiger during the dark days of the '80's.

Sure had a lot of dark days back then.

Think he attempted to instill a sense of pride in the team (only Pat Quinn was able to eventually succeed in that department a decade later). Unfortunately while he tried to lead - not enough people followed. Then his 'scoring ability' (what he had) just dried up not long afterwards.
