Mainly that Del Zotto and Staal both play the left side normally, and Stralman and Sauer both play the right side normally

Ideally that's what I'd love to see but you have to see if guys are comfortable and as effective switching sides

Right now, he is a our 2nd best defenseman behind Girardi. With just over a full season under his belt no less. Damn impressive.

What I love most about McDonagh's play is that it pushes Staal. Anything that pushes Staal harder is a good thing for the back line as a whole.

This is exactly what I think they will do. There's no way I see that pair getting split up. It will be Girardi-McDonagh and Staal-Sauer with each pair getting very similar ice time.
