Blue Jackets sign Brett Lebda

Saw it in their GDT.

Guess they wanted to make it clear they want dibs on the top spot of the lottery.

[CBJ] - Blue Jackets sign Brett Lebda

http://bluejackets.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=612590

Would be top pairing on the Oilers right now

Is it a two-way contract? Possibly an AHL signing.

No matter how many "More horrible player" threads Lebda was featured in, he couldn't rebound.

Howson took in a few Sabres games this past week and wanted to be sure they got Yakupov.

Lebda wasn't the horrendous dman that most Wings/Leafs fans will have you believe.

But he wasn't good either.

If they weren't already terrible I'd say this is the greatest tanking signing since Khabibulin.

I remember that game.

Aki Berg was the worst dman I have ever saw. Lumme was pretty terribad as well. I didn't think Lebda was as bad as them, but still not good. He should be like a teams 10th defenceman or something.

Howson is basically saying "Fire me, please!"

For Jackets fans' sake, I hope this clown of a GM gets the boot, sooner rather than later.

They really ran out of AHL and ECHL d-men within Columbus' reach.

Sucks that Martinek is out for them, but any other AHL d-man would've been slightly better than Lebda the derpanator.

Lebda has been playing in an AHL only deal with the Jackets' AHL affiliate since November.

He does a great impersonation of being a forward, every time he's on the ice...

Even if Patrick Roy has been uneven as a GM in the Q so far, I'm sure he could do a better job than Howson. Heck, he could even coach the Blue Jackets as well.

When he signed with the Leafs, I was so happy.. All he did was play like crap though .

I'll still remember his goal against the Habs though. Gold.

So do you think he deserves this contract? His AHL stats do not look bad.

More specifically, a great impression of being Scott Gomez. Good at skating the puck through the neutral zone, then doing absolutely nothing with it. Useless in both the offensive and defensive zones, and very undersized.
