He also subtly called a spade a spade (Mr. DP). Sadly, he can be shockingly frank on the Wang-Snow-DP relationship, ie. if DP ever retires as a player and Wang owns the team, DP's "an Islander for life."

Goalie for Life, may very well be much more...

Wow, an incredibly candid interview. You can like Botta or not, but the guy is one of us at his core. It's that like true first love that you had a bad break up with. Deep down inside though, you still love them.

It would be great to make those radio show hosts eat it.

Botta sees what most of us see. A team with a good deal of talent that is just not getting any help from the bottom six or certain defenders.

Wow, Botta sounds like all of us here. If you're an Islander fan you have to respect what Botta said in this interview.

Thats funny because he lost access to the team for being too harsh.

Truth is you have to go easy on Wang, without Wang there are no Islanders. Love him or hate him you might as well change the team to the New York Wang's

thanks for posting! good interview.

this voice is NOT HEARD in mainstream hockey media, unfortunately.

I like when Botta made the point that Tavares has been generating scoring chances seemingly every shift for the past few weeks, adding "have you watched the games recently"??

The Isles are team that people know NOTHING about. Good or bad.

Tavares is the NHL's best kept secret and the ESPN article, although it was stupid, is pretty symbolic of how little is known about the team. This muzzling of Botta has always irritated me, still does.

I really hate Snow and Wang for so many reasons, how they run the franchise, treat fans. No respect for these guys (skewed heavily to Wang)

I know Snow's under strict direction to cut payroll and I like a lot of his moves but I still group him with Wang on so many "issues" with this organization, as I'm sure most of you understand, but so few others do.

Wang is terrible. And this "No Wang-No Islanders" is a myth.

So Charles Wang is the only man in the entire world with the resorces and the interest to keep the Islanders on Long Island?

Wang kept Gutkowski from negotiating with SMG - who could not afford to lose the Isles in Nassau with their amazing deal with Nassau - and that's one certain.

Wang says he's selling the Isles and the hundreds of millions left in the cable deal for $180M-190M, and the right to run the arena at the current contract or close to.....with potential development in the offing if someone isn't so stubborn to turn down a sizeable development scale, I GUARANTEE one of the few names PLUS additional non public names step forward.

Remember, there were people bidding on the SMG era, no development Isles a decade ago with a County not caring. Add a County that is trying to get a project approved for NYS funding, a tax base that needs the revenue (whether they know it or not) and a deadline, I have no doubt they could sell.

And that's not counting any developers in Queens or parties involved in the Brooklyn area.

So Wang, for all the misery during his reign, can go **** himself.

His issue was with Snow, actually, not Wang, and if you have listened to him since getting alienated he still defends Wang's every move. He is the most probing of the talking heads in this area, but I've never heard him take the gloves off with Wang despite undoubtedly knowing how bad an organization Wang runs. He even cozies to Garth now and then in the hope of repairing the bridge. No, I give him credit for many things, but he lets old loyalties cloud his commentary on Wang's destruction of the club and his tendency to do crazy things.
