They had no reason to lose that game. Controlled most of the game, but couldn't finish their chances. Most of which were really good chances. It's a ****ing joke that this team can't score. Anytime Dean wants to make a move is good for me. Enough of this losing points when they are actually playing well. The more time that passes = More points the team misses out on.
You might be waiting for another 30 days. I don't see any team wanting to unload anything good till the deadline.
Technically only (Three teams) are mathmatically eliminated. I could be wrong though.

It's pretty clear to me that the weakest spot on the team is the #2 right wing spot with Richards. Penner has been better, but I see Stoll dragging Richards down so much. Stoll is obviously great as faceoffs, but its tough to see him in such a crucial role when he really is bringing nothing to the table right now; he isn't even strong on the forecheck.

He was making just flat out awful reads on the forecheck all game long. He's really on my **** list. I don't care if he's being miscast right now. He is not a good hockey player.
Honestly Penner is too slow and lazy to be on this team and on second line. Gotta get him out of here. I dont care if his games been decent of LATE, he needs to be gone with stoll. Penner is just so noncompetitive. get penner and stoll out.
Like I said, thank God for the point system. From the standpoint of winning and losing, I can barely call our team a winning team.
8-1-6 in the regular season is nearly as good as going 11-4. (nearly due to tie-breakers)
8-1-6 in the playoffs is equal to 8-7, which means you're in the conference finals.
Those 8 wins include Washington, Chicago, and 2 against Vancouver. Of those 7 losses only 1 of those teams is even in a playoff spot, meaning we are 4-1 under Sutter against Playoff teams.

Look at the math, that's how you figure it. Yes, those are the points behind, but all of those teams have games in hand over the Kings. Right now, the top six teams will all have more than 100 points, from Nashville's sixth-place 101 points to St. Louis's #1 seed at 111 points and San Jose's #2 seed at 106 points.
On their season-long pace, even WITH the 8-1-6 clip since DS took over, the Kings should expect 96 points. They need to step it up and turn three REGULATION losses into wins (or six OT/SOL to wins) to even move up from seventh to sixth -- they need to turn ELEVEN OT/SOL into wins to catch San Jose. So yes, home ice is a LONG way away at this point, without some kind of ACTUAL streak.
(Just to be precise, a record of 17-17 get the Kings in with a #8 seed, a record of 25-8-1 or 17-0-17 gets them the Pacific and the #2 seed... and it's actually HARDER for them to get the #4 seed than the #2 seed, since St. Louis is projected at 111 points and Detroit at 110.)
They'll need to, to take the Pacific. This current pace, even if the team can hold it up for the remaining 34 games, would see the Kings losing the non-SO-wins tiebreaker to San Jose and moving all the way up from #7 to #6 in the seedings.
Not sure what's more uneventful...watching the Kings or the sleep it induces.

6 behind with them having more games to play and this team having long road trips. Not insurmountable, but there are tough obstacles ahead which will make catching them difficult.

Yeah, no way the loser points will go away. Parity is good. But too much parity is not. You have these below average teams that have a decent shot at the playoffs.
I've got to be honest, I'm getting tired of reading this. Loktionov is allegedly a scorer. There is nothing solid about zero goals and 4 assists in 27 games. At this point I have more faith that the 4th line can pot a goal than the 3rd, and that does not bode well for our playoff hopes. We might as well be watching Noah Clarke/Kontstantin Pushkarev/Gabe Gauthier.
As for the game, frustrating to lose, but not horrible considering everything. Quick's lost his shootout mojo, but honestly when the guy's allowing less than 2 goals a game, he shouldn't have to worry about that.
I was looking through the Kings' game-by-game record out of curiousity, and a couple of things jumped out at me:
* 10 of the last 16 games have gone past regulation.
* The Kings haven't won three games in regulation in a row since October 18th-22nd (St. Louis 5-0, at Phoenix 2-0, Dallas 1-0)... yes, that's Quick's legendary shutout streak. In fact, that's the ONLY three-game regulation winning streak the team has had all season.
For getting at least a point pretty much every night people sure complain a lot.
It's because they figure they have some sort of entitlement, I am not sure why they are not satisfied by the most recent play.
I am thrilled we didn't lose this in regulation. Calgary was peppering the net in the last couple of minutes there, and Quick made an outstanding save to preserve the one point.
Am I satisfied with the continual problems in the extra periods? No, but at least we are getting points in every game. I mean come on guys, we have notched at least one point in 16 of the past 17 games...that is a hell of a lot better than what we were doing just before Murray got fired.
Having said that, we are going to need more scoring if we want to go deep in the playoffs. Hopefully we can get an Iglina or a Nash or a Parise but I am afraid those teams are just going to want to much for such assets.
