Yes and it has been something that has reared it's ugly head multiple times this yr. I honestly don't see a difference between this yrs team and last yr (2nd half of the season) in terms of intensity/work ethic

What is the flyer board's opinion of Tavares? Not trying to be arrogant here.

He should be arrested for ****.

He completely took advantage of our defense.

That being said, I did find tonight's game kind of funny... the knock on Tavares has always been his speed and his biggest asset has always been his finishing ability. Tonight, he killed the Flyers w/ speed but he couldn't finish to save his you know what.

That being said, I'm a gigantic fan. And I would likely trade anyone on the Flyers not named Giroux for him.

That part made me chuckle

Yea he's really improved his agility this year, but I was grinding my teeth with those two breakaway misses!

I feel like my team is close to contention, for a playoff spot that is; and close is the key word there. Once we're there I'm looking forward to playing the Flyers.

I would absolutely loveeeeee the Flyers, if I didn't hate them so much. They've got identity, something with those beards lol. They've got a gritty swagger. And jeez they're damn good.

Same goes for Talbot, hate his guts. But if he was wearing an Islander sweater I'd appreciate the hell outta him.

Cheers

p.s. Hope you don't give up too much for Ryan Suter!

pp.s Because he's signing with us come July 1st!

Tavares dominated us this game. He's becoming a much more complete player than I thought he would ever be. I mean, I thought he'd be good, but slightly one-dimensional. He looks like the real deal for you guys though.

I have no idea why Nino is playing on the 4th line. he has shown some skill but he has nobody to pass to or nobody to pass to him. With the Islanders having issues scoring beyond the Tavares line would it hurt trying him with Bailey or Nielsen(2 centers who can pass).

Yes, you would. I hated him pretty hard a year ago. I'm still uncomfortable with being a huge Talbot and Jagr fan, they've both been great for us.

I'm surprised no one is commenting on the Islanders' third goal. Bob made some great saves on those breakaways, and seemed to have played an overall great game, but if this was Bryz in net, you'd be all over that softie. Oh, well, I guess one has to get used to double standards, and I can't really say I'm immune to them, either, but still.

I wonder if the team just got complacent with the "oh well its the Islanders" mentality. Take nothing away from the Isles effort last night. They wanted the game and they went out and took it from the Flyers.
Maybe next game against the Isles they will be ready to go from the opening faceoff.
They better get their **** together, if they play like this against Boston it will be another 6-0 game.

Talbot I warmed to pretty much immediately. Jagr... having had so many more years to develop a dislike towards him, it just feels so weird cheering for him. He's obviously one of the best players to ever play the game, and has brought a lot to this team. Not just by his play but also with his attitude and work ethic. Still... I mean, obviously I cheered for him from the day that he became a Flyer but it's a weird feeling.

Super sloppy defensively.

Couturier and Read have great chemistry.

Voracek looks like he could have 10 points some games and ends up with zero. Had at least 3 high and wides.

I would rather see Couturier on the point than Schenn.

Cross ice pass and Bob was small in the nets. The way Nabokov played, he probably would have had it. Bob was the only one that showed up the first half of the game, I think that is why he gets the pass.

Also, as posters seem to forget, Bryz is paid to be a top goalie and Bob is not. At some point the argument switched from defending Bryz as a great goalie to simply defending him as average. I don't get the point of the latter.

Well, that's a fair point, and I'm not trying as much to defend Bryz, but rather to invoke the same standards for both goalies regardless of what they're paid. That being said, I am also critical of Bryz's play this year, and think he is definitely underperforming. Nonetheless, I am still hopeful he'll turn it around, and that we should give him some more time. Patience with him is wearing thin on me, as well, but I haven't "snapped" yet, and am not yet calling for a trade. Unless we somehow get together and start an "Ilya for Ilya trade" campaign, then I'm all up for it

If he posts back-to-back shutouts this weekend, I think a lot will be forgotten. (please)

What is sad is that they have learned nothing from the last game. How many times can you allow that many breakaways and get away with a win?!

Nabby is red hot right now and so are the Islanders. Anyone bothering to check at least some recent game reports and stats would have expected a tough game but most Flyers were expecting a piece of cake....
