Dreger: Canadiens interested in Roy

On WGR this morning Dreger said that yesterday he heard that Montreal is interested in Roy. He isn't sure what they might be offering, but they are indeed interested.

Thanks for fixing that, Chain.

I don't know about Roy to Montreal. First, it would have to be an overpayment for Darcy to consider it. Second, it would *probably* make Montreal better, thus pushing Buffalo further down the standings....

If Darcy signs off on it, I'm fine with it, because I know that he got more than market value for a guy we want gone anyway.

Try and squeeze Montreal's 1st round pick out of them. Even if you have to add another body with Roy.
Montreal will most likely end up with an 8 to 12 overall pick, even if Roy and another roster player are added to them from Buffalo, I say get that 1st rounder of theirs.

Would need to be an overpayment to keep him in the division. I don't like Montreal's non-draft pick assets nearly as much as some other teams' assets. In fact, outside of Plekanec and Subban, there's not much I'm interested in from the Habs.

Considering Regiers love of the RW, he'll trade for Danny Kristo.

I'm the same way. And I don't know why Montreal would do it. Roy for Leblanc, 1st, 3rd? Meh.

Any player who calls out his team for being a bunch of lazy jerks is fine with me. A dead hooker would be better than Roy at this point.

I'm on the train of confiscating MTL's 1st round pick. Roy for it? Or can it be less?

If there was ever a team that could use a small skilled top-six forward, it's Montreal.

Especially when you factor in his personal statline and contract.

I'd consider Eller + 1st or maybe Eller + Leblanc

but again, i think moving Roy is a positive step even at 75 cents on the dollar.

I Like Eller, in a young Jochen Hecht kind of way...

Next years draft is deep. We need to trade as many of our overpaid trash players for 1st and 2nd round picks. Roy, Stafford, Hecht, Boyes, all need to go for draft picks imo.

Hold out for their first at least -- it's a division thing and direct competition in the standings. Another first, this one in the 10-15 range, could land them Gaunce.

i agree with this. Leblanc & Eller would be ideal imo...a potential 2C & 2C/3C guy would be ok considering that other bigger deals probably arent out there.

I would trade pretty much anyone necessary (not myers) for another projected top 10-ish pick.

The idea that they could find a way to come out of the draft with Gaunce and Galchenyuk is what helps me sleep at night.

I dream about getting a first out of NYI, MON, TB, or EMD.... by shipping out 1 or both of Roy and Miller....

Lol, with the potential sell off, will anyone else besides the Sabres draft in the first round? That'd be a funny draft board; nothing but Sabres logos on it.

It would be like the early Bowman era -- three first rounders in back-to-back years (and some extra 2nds too). Granted, there was a guy who was obsessed with his own drafted players, but this could actually be the silver lining in the season: moving out deadwood and landing the bluechip players they need to build toward Cup contention.
