Patience...he doesn't need to become an O-star, just a vg 2-way 2nd line ctr...well on his way...patience...

it scares me because this is EXACTLY a Gauthier move: underwhelming.

He may be responding to what Geoff Molson is telling him?
If they trade for Roy it won't be to make the playoffs this year. He's struggled all yaer coming back from a muscle tear in his leg. He'd probably be worth more next year.

He is a guy I wouldn't mind adding but where would he fit and who would go(Eller Plekanec DD)? He has more high end upside than our centers but not as big or complete as Plekanec.

Would be a strange move by itself.

Someone's jerking Dreger's chain. Unless they're taking Gomer back, the last thing this team needs to aquire is another tiny, one-way player. Nothing against Roy, I like him fine, but adding him to the Habs at this point would basically be PG trolling the fan base.

Roy is a very good player, not sure why adding him would be a bad thing. I think he is a 0.9 PPGM guy the last 3+ years even with this year's struggles. Makes 4 mil cap hit this year and next.

In terms of needs though he isn't a guy I'd want to trade a big package for.

What would it take to impress you guys? Only Habs fans would complain about acquiring a 70 point centre with a good cap hit.

Yes, he's small and yes, he's a diving pansy but be realistic. He's a good player and the team needs help offensively. I wouldn't give the moon for him, but don't just dismiss him.

Why are we even looking at doing moves like this? If this is for real, it's time for Molson to step in and relieve PG of his duties. We should be selling not buying.

This is just pure crazy talk. I can't see Buffalo and Montreal trading with each other at this point.

If Gauthier acquires Roy it keeps proving that he has no ****ing idea on how to build a hockey team. From getting bigger, to softer, to bigger again and now back to small and soft. I doubt about this unless another team is involved ( 3 way trade )

If we could get him and get rid of Nokelainen and Gomez, would be nice. Pleks, DD, Eller and Roy as centers is decent. Not great, but decent.

Here are the names of players that PG is looking at:
L. Couture
P. Marleau.
D. Roy
D. Phaneuf
M. Duchene
Sam Gagner
A. Henrique
Z. Parise
B. Marchand
D. Paille
T. Seguin

Maybe because every single one of them has a French name and is not francophone.
We already have R. Bourque and N. Beaulieu.

So, according to the idiot Leaf lover Dreger, the Habs are looking at another small #2 center so we can have 3 of them !

So if Buffalo called and offered Roy for a 2nd round pick and he accepts, you'd say he has no clue how to build a hockey team? Just a yes or no please.

You really think that's the case?

It would be Gauthier calling Regier, offering way too much for way too little in return (no pun intended)

**** that! Obviously can't be true. He's small, but more importantly, he plays like it. Also never seen a player dive as much as Derek Roy. If you're trying to change the team-culture, Derek Roy is the wrong direction. One of my most hated players in the league as long as I can remember.

Wouldn't trade Eller or Desharnais straight up for him. I just flat-out wouldn't trade for him.
