Why would I drool over Pacioretty-Roy-Cole, when I can drool over Pacioretty-Desharnais-Cole? Desharnais is outscoring Roy

Desharnais is a keeper as far as I'm concerned.

Agreed, 22 year old players usually don't become better then they currently are. Wich is why players who weren't big offensive ES producers at that age like Mike Richards, Ryan Kesler, Mikko Koivu and Derek Roy were all immediatly traded by their respective teams only to completely dissapear from the NHL. 22 year old should usually score about 50-60 ES points in a season while playing against hard opposition and be completely polished to be considered worth keeping. Like David Desharnais was doing at 22 year old!

Also taken from the Sabres board:
I'd swap Roy straight up for Plekanec.

When they do re-tool this team and have it ready for playoff hockey, IMO Plekanec is the most annoying, suffocating center in the East to play against.

AND he still gets some points up.

Ideal #2C with a shutdown game.

Weirdly enough I was convinced Plek was a little girl in the playoffs since apparently racking up second assists on the powerplay > shutting down first lines while scoring clutch SH goals.

There's absolutely nothing irrational about what I said. We've continued to buy when we should be selling. I wouldn't put it past PG to be buying some more. And if that's the case then ownership should step in and replace him.

This is why I believe if we lose both games this weekend, he needs to be gone. Won't happen, but I can dream.

Just imagine what kind of damage can go down if he tries to pull the trigger on a high-risk move when we don't need another.

How is trading away a $6 million player for a $3.3 million player, a draft pick and prospect "buying"?

Roy is struggling this year coming back from a torn quad. I like Desharnais but I would take Roy ahead of him any day of the week and twice on Sundays. Obviously the cost would be a factor.

I'm sure with a summer of rest he should be back to pre 2011-2012 form.

Not so sure about that. GM position is too important to give it to an interim... and if they already have a real replacement for PG, I dont see why they would wait the week end, it's not like one or two games would change much...

Well, you could always go after Gerbe....at least he gets in peoples faces and doesnt dive all over the ice.

I dont think Roy, at any cost, would help your team. PG should be going after a few stud D men. Forwards are ok for now, you just need to keep the puck out.

I seriously hope he's not that crazy.

How is tying yourself to a dumb contract like Thomas Kaberle's selling?

As for Cammy... that's not selling dude. That is exchanging one 30 year old for another. The contract hit is a little better? So what. We didn't get any kind of impact prospect or 1st round pick out of it. It was basically Cammy for Bourque. That's not selling.

Roy is a very good player but with the way our team is now I wouldn't trade futures for him. Only a hockey trade. I mean all we have in the NHL/AHL is basically Pacioretty, Eller, and Leblanc in terms of early 20s forwards with top 6 potential. There's nothing to gain by trading them.

He is reliable, but he's so clearly pumping his contacts list by putting guys like John Ferguson Jr out there as a possibility for the Habs.

Imagine the return for 'selling' Plekanec.
