This. Scouts are not considering this to be a great draft. Put it this way..Timmins is glad the Habs picked up a second in 2013 from Cgy instead of a pick in 2012, and has told PG that the 2013 draft looks better and deeper, especially in the Q.

Well I wouldn't want them to simply pick a player because he is in the Q, but it is a lot more convenient for them to scout players in their own backyard. Anyone could go, including the GM and Assistant GM.

Calgary didn't have their 2012 2nd rounder so would wouldn't know. Anyways glad the 2013 draft is deep even if I don't think we hang on to that pick

I wish we were in the running for Mackinnon this year. I don't want to go through a season like this again next year.

No, I don't like the fact that the Q had to be specifically mentioned. I am happy it's a deep draft. I don't give a **** what league makes it deep. All that proves is this team is still on an agenda to appease the vocal french masses instead of being serious about being a winning team.

a lot of the best Q players eligible for 2013 are not french.

Irreguardless there was no reason to mention the Q specifically. It was mentioned specifically and therefore it seems obvious they are stuck on this french ********.

It might have been mentionned specifically because:

1) it will have MacKinnon who is looking like the favorite to go #1 in the whole draft.
2) it specifically is a lot deeper than it has been in most years.

It seems that you are the one being stuck, big time, on this French/English thing.

Why are you mad at Timmins if he really mentioned that 2013 should be a deep draft, especially for the Q?

The more I think about it, the happier I am regarding the Cammalleri's trade!

Why am I mad? Is it not clear?

THEY ARE PUTTING EMPHASIS ON APPEASING THE FRENCH MASSES.

The ONLY emphasis should be on WINNING.

That's it. That's all. That's the point.

Anything good related to the Q (ref. Timmins' comment) = appeasing the french masses?

Ok... to each his own I guess.

You put way too much stock into people's words.

Considering the Habs have a reputation for ignoring the Q (rather than being biased toward the Q), you're knocking down windmills here.

I really think it could simply be a shot at the Q that Timmins is making. There hasn't been depth coming from that league in years. Now all of a sudden it could be on the same level as the OHL and WHL.

Or it means that Timmins & co already have an idea about prospects they are looking at that happen to be playing in the Q (who may or may not be Francophone - most of the Q's best prospects lately have been in the Maritimes after all), and the Q should be easy to scout considering its proximity.

Personally I'd be more upset if Timmins was raving about how many great players are coming out of US high schools next year.

How so? He thinks the draft class next year is deeper as a whole, ESPECIALLY the Q, not JUST THE Q.

Reading comp ftw.

Not to mention Calgary could very well be a lottery team in 2013. I could see that pick being in the 31-36 overall range.

Relax, dude. Half the highly drafted boys in the Q are from the maritimes/your backyard anyways. They're forecasting the Q to be deep in that range. I don't see how that can be understood as bending over for the Quebecois media. And if it's Timmins that said it, you can be sure that his bias wouldn't be towards Q players

Do you think that our first and our 2 seconds will be enough to draft Jordan Subban in 2013, same play style, but PK admitted that Jordan is going to be better than him. Picture a line of 2 subbans!!

He's nothing special IMO. He doesn't have anything to bring him over the top in terms of skating, physicality, shot or hands.

My viewings didn't disagree with most of this, as far as physical tools. Although I was impressed with his quick stick on occasion. But mostly, I thought he had a very good head for the game and a lot of guts. A little bit of Ryan Smyth in his game.

As far as late bloomers go, I would take a chance on a guy that would be more skilled than him à la Perron in 2007 for example. Let the leafs waste their 2nd rounder on him.
