Glad to hear it. Hope he stays. We'd have a pretty big top 9 winger group.

I've heard a lot of players say similar things in the past. I guess the next question would be what he thinks his UFA value and term should be.

we didn't lose Hammer over money. It was over years. Not signing Hammer though is one of the few good things that Gauthier has done.

How about 10 mil for 3 years? Be a steal, frankly. But really he'll likely get 4 short term on the open market (depending on the rest of this season, assuming he gets 23-26 goals, say) so anything under that with a reasonably limited term would be a win for the org. It's hard to see AK being a dominant factor in the dressing room, either positive or negative.

Andrei is a good example of the type of player you want to keep. He is drafted and developed within the organization, and comes at good production per contract cost.
Its strange, but i always felt, like he rly liked it here, and never rly wanted to leave

Andrei may employ the agent but the agent would explain to Andrei you don't show your hand in a poker game not even when the hand is over.

I like Andrei. I really think he gets alot flack from some of the posters on this site. He didn't turn out to be the gold chip player we all hoped for but he is still the type of player the Habs need, He's big, plays big, can skate, shoots well and if played with the right players has demonstrated very good hockey vision.

I think if the Habs traded him and then went out and got someone similar they would lose out.

I hope the Habs keep him especially now that he has demonstrated he wants to stay.

Andrei Kostitsyn said he's willing to accept less money than his free agent market value if it means staying in Montreal.
depends on what his agent thinks his free agent market value is-
he is looking for a raise even though his stats dont warrant it
he didnt say he was willing to accept less money that what he makes now-- his agent possibly think he should get between 4.5 and 5 mill a season and will take 4.2 a season for multi years- thats very possible- 2 goals in his last 19 games

So market value is maybe $4.25-$4.5', so try $3.75-$4.0M. I want him to stay.

So Jean Perron was right, he is apparently playing golf with his agent and always said he wanted to spend his whole carreer here..

It really depends on what he think his market value is. If he thinks he is worth 4 million and is willing to stay in Montreal for 3.5 million, well thats not saying much.

Realistically he is a 3 million dollar a year player at most. He puts up around 40-45 points a year.

What a magnanimous gesture! I wish some of the others would follow suit. That is, if they wanted to remain in Montréal. If not, they could volunteer to lift their no-trade and/or no movement clauses.

Hasn't it been noted that the Kostitsyn brothers come from a relatively wealthy family in Belarus?
