Listened to the sound clip. It's not as bad as what it's made out to be.

The circus he's referring to is the losing, the "crap about the french coach", the injuries and the pressure.

He maintains that the room is still filled with a "great group of guys".

None of this would have happened if Gainey was still running the day to day operations. He commanded a certain level of respect and dealt with things. If he hired Cunneyworth and the media got upset he would have straight up told the media to suck it and they would have piped down. Gauthier seems afraid of the media. Spacek also would not have unceremoniously left Montreal the way Gauthier traded him and then rushed him out of the building as fast as possible. I remember at the deadline either last year or the year before where Burke made a bunch of trades and made sure he spoke to every departing player to let him know his time with the team was appreciated and that he wished him all the best. His exact quote was something along the lines of not send somebody onto a plane without offering the respect for his time of service.

Just look at Gauthier. Trades Spacek mid-practice and doesn't let him say goodbye to his teammates, doesn't even offer Wisniewski a contract or even thank him for helping the team. Just gave him the silent treatment all off-season. Didn't do anything special for Koivu's return to Montreal. Trades Cammelleri between periods and doesn't even tell him where. Fires Pearn and Martin right before a game in separate instances. Doesn't defend his choice for the interim replacement and then apologizes for him weeks later.

Gauthier has handled this team so poorly. Even disregarding the quality of the moves, the way he handles them has been totally unprofessional and it is obvious he has no respect for the players. No wonder Spacek was glad to be out.

You should listen to the clip to see what circus he's referring to. He's talking about the pressure of losing, the fans, the "crap about the french coach" and the injuries and that he's happy he's gone from that circus.

It would have been more succinct if you would have simply stated that Spacek loved the players and hated management.

There is a language issue, no doubt! But I believe that it's not really a deal for Euro players. It really alienates The Q from North America which is bad.

He may be right. But I'm glad we got rid of him. I've only heard his name once since he's been traded. Have fun in Obscurity, USA Jaro!

I knew what he meant. He doesn't seem like the kind of guy that would throw anybody under the bus, but a lot of what he said can be attributed to the way that the team is handles. Especially with regards to the french coach (something he wasn't around for anyways).

Gauthier is in WAY over his head here.

His hide and seek worked in Ott and DISNEYland,

but Montreal not ever goona work like this.

He is just in over his head ,and has led to chaos every where you look.

Spacek left it all on the ice ? LOL, people were screaming at him because he was so ****ing bad

Cammalleri left it all in the bank ? Have you watch the playoffs the last 2 years ? Have you read the hypocrisy of Hf Boards and the quick bipolar turn around with how Cammalleri was portrayed. I did.

I guess you missed the part where he says the guys don't even want to go out to eat. It's a big mess.

While it's true that Montreal can be a circus, it's also quite possible that to some degree his comments were inspired by the spurned lover effect.

Impossible!!! I was told the language issue did not affect the players at all and that the media BS was not something the players cared about!!!

Man...The "you know who's" in this province are PATHETIC. They rally in front of the Bell Centre to protest about an english coach...How about protesting the "journalists" in this province who are obviously holding the team back?

I thought that people only said that to spite us but now I somehow believe it to be true somewhat. So many players that got traded said the exact same thing, and I'm thinking of Lats, Ribs etc... all good players too.

The political environment in which Montreal Canadiens operate is a deal breaker for so many players, even the francophone ones. Then people blame us for not sign... never mind won't derail this.

he wasn't coming back as a 38 yr old Ufa.

He was respected in the room, so when he says this it carries weight .

Gauthier when he fired Martin, tanked the season with the Englishmen coach.

It just distracted the whole team .

At that point Habs we're at a delicate point....the English french crap did them in .
