The Guys over there are talking Eller + This years 1st for Roy...
IMO I wouldnt even give Eller straight up for Roy.
we'd be stupid to not give up Eller straight up for Roy. We'd be ripping off Buffalo pretty bad. His size scares me, but if we are content with having somebody like Desharnais in the lineup we could replace him with Roy.
I know you guys have this sudden obsessive desire to be like the Flyers/Bruins/Rangers in terms of physicality and toughness, but some of you are scoffing/laughing at the idea of trading ELLER for Roy 1 to 1?
Loss for words.

Eller for 1.5m or Roy for 4m, easy decision for me to make. Plus Roy's teammates hate him.
See that's the problem, people get attached to players but were not talking about trading away the family dog here. Plekanec has value & would really prosper on a bigger team, he'll be able to do his thing. If we have to let him go/package & get a player like Getzlaf or JVR you do it! More small guys are on the way like Gallaghar anyway.
I don't see whats wrong with what I said. Plekanec is a good player, only normal I'd miss him. I never said I wouldn't do the deal though.
Sens fan here coming in peace my brother is a die hard habs fan and was absolutley crushed when cammy was traded and the rumors about plecky and subban havent helped much either. I suggested making a package around plecky to try and bring getzlaf in and build around him, subban and price. thoughts?
We would obviously like Getzlaf, but Getzlaf would probably not agree to an extension with us, so it would be pointless to trade for him.
Hmmmmm...... a 5'8" player, with a cap hit of $4Mil/Year, who's down in production after having surgery from a pretty bad knee injury.... Sounds like the perfect fit. Nothing like getting smaller down the middle......
I was OK with Bourque. We got a prospect and 2nd round pick. But no more guys pushing 30 or over to help us make 9th place. Let's build around the youth.
Actually Derek Roy is not a francophone. His french is awful.
Also, this move makes perfect sense. An injury prone, small, weakling offensive centre who is the biggest diver in the NHL and is forever on the cusp of breaking out but never does.
His french is just as good as Luc Gélinas' english!
Didn't Dreger in one of his recent articles say that there is nothing more on the Roy front? He said habs kicked the tires, but it looks like it stopped there.
Edit: Actually all he said was that he heard that the habs MIGHT be interested.
