Anyone ever heard of those "Skylanders" things? It's some sort of toy/video game hybrid thing. I went out today originally to try and get a couple for my cousin's kid's birthday (the EB stuff was a personal sidebar since I was already at the mall).
Good lord, it's like trying to get a furby or tickle me elmo. Went to Toys r Us and they had the shipping boxes out on the floor in the video game section and people were tearing through them themselves because the staff was putting them on the shelves too slow for their taste. I had to fight my way into the crowd just to see if they maybe had what I was supposed to be looking for, and I went to 4 different stores in the mall to find one specific toy to no avail.
People are ****ing crazy. It wasn't this bad when I got my Wii, and I thought that was nuts at the time.

Burns brings those Skylanders with him wherever he goes. Those were the toys that Clowe tweeted about.
Please do.
Spyro has been ruined forever. Actually, I think the series was ruined after Insomniac stopped making their games and gave other studios a shot. The third one I hold dear to my heart, and after seeing the abomination that is the fourth game and the legend of Spyro series, I gave up. Seeing Skylanders just makes my blood boil.
That Skylanders thing is a brilliant way to sell DLC/make money. Gotta give props to that. Don't know how the actual game itself is though.
I'm shocked Nintendo didn't jump on that tech and license it to the Pokemon franchise. It just seems like it would fit perfectly with Pokemon, and they got it as a Nintendo exclusive for both the Wii and DS. But instead they keep it as a 3rd party title.
Skylanders are awesome I bought my niece one for xmas.
Awesome for everyone but your wallet.

Seriously, Nintendo must be kicking themselves for not doing this. Now they can't build their Emerald tower next to the Ruby, Sapphire, Gold and Diamond towers they made using the funds from the Wii and DS.
Ha, my favites coral is looking mighty angry at its neighbors. There's a war coral about 2 inches above it (cut off from the pic) and they've been threatening each other for over a year with their sweeper tentacles.
Just taking some pics of the tank after cleaning the glass and thought I'd share

I got hit by a car walking across the street today
I'm bruised up from where I landed but otherwise I think I'm ok. Visit to the doctors tomorrow.
Damn, that sucks. Hope your ok.
I sorta' know how that feels, some a-hole turned right infront of me about 4 years ago when I was driving to school with my moped. Went flying over his hood and barely missed the passenger seat door, which would have probably killed me if I had hit it. Amazingly, nothing serious happened. No broken bones, my back was sore for a few months though. And my moped was done. That's the last time I drove a two-wheeeled thing with an engine in it.

Were they turning right? I hate how few people look at the crosswalk when they are turning right at an intersection. I get so many near misses in that situation. Even had one guy come like a foot from running over my foot, the woman in the car with him looked horrified when she saw him going for it.
I'll get you some pics of my new tanks soon Mafoofoo. I built this elaborate multi-story dual tank system recently. Two one-hundred gallon tanks plumbed together to a cabinet downstairs in my garage where all the equipment is housed. It's been running now for a few months, but I haven't started populating them yet, just the fish I had previously in my old 75. All my coral died during two moves, i have one small rock with some pollups on it now. Plan is to turn one into a full reef and the other for non-reef safe stuff.
I actually have a build thread if your interested.
The tanks are 100% operational now, we just need to finish the aesthetics. We are putting a door between them to close in our office, and walling them in so they will appear to be in wall tanks.

Can not realistically keep squid in a home aquarium. Closest you can get are octopus and cuttlefish. Octopus are tough because they have to be kept totally alone, nothing else in the tank (they will eat and/or kill anything). They also love to escape (as they can breathe air fairly well and squeeze through a hole the size of a nail head).
Cuttlefish are sort of easier, but since they also have such a short life span you have to continually breed them (they live about a year) which is expensive and difficult (since they only eat live food).
Octopus will live 2 years tops as well, so as much as I love cephalopod's, it's not worth the commitment.
