No offense to Groulx, but Roy would probably garner a lot more respect the moment he steps into the job.

I'm not saying he's the best candidate, though, I said he's a serious candidate.

I'm sure the players respect Randy Cunneyworth.

I want the most capable coach. We don't have a rag-tag team of great players who need some guy to inspire them, we have a group of decent to good players who need a real coach.

Montreal hasn't had a 40 goal scorer in so long I even stop trying to remember...

"Researching the past 4 seasons, we find that 35 teams have had a minimum of two players with at least 30 goals. Of those 35 teams, twenty-seven have made the playoffs. This shows us that teams with at least two 30-goal scorers have a 77% chance of making the playoffs."

When was the last time you looked at the end of the season and saw 2 players on the Habs with 30 goals scored????

"The past four seasons have shown that the combination with the best odds of making the playoffs consists of at least two 30-goal scorers among at least ten 10-goal scorers. Over the past four seasons, only one of the sixteen teams with that combination missed the playoffs. In other words, teams with this combination have a 94% chance of making the playoffs."

The more and more I read, the more I see the Habs are lucky to even make the play-offs when they do.

And to finish off,"no team has played in the Finals without having had at least ten 10-goal scorers during the regular season."

Well lets look at a few stats since the lock-out:

2010-2011
9 players with at least 10 goals.
no players with 30 or more goals.

2009-2010
8 players with at least 10 goals.
no players with 30 or more goals.

2008-2009
11 players with at least 10 goals.
no players with 30 or more goals.

2007-2008
9 players with at least 10 goals.
1 players with 30 or more goals (kovalev).

2006-2007
10 players with at least 10 goals.
1 players with 30 or more goals (Ryder).

2005-2006
11 players with at least 10 goals.
1 players with 30 or more goals (Ryder).

PATHETIC!!!!!!!
It is pathetic. Our offense has been offesnisve in the last 15 or so years. The last time we had a decent team was in 96 when Turgeon and Damphousse had 96 (38-58) and 94 points respectively (38-56). Since then it has been a downward spiral.

As for goalscoring, the last player to score 40 goals was Brian Bellows in 92-93 season, the year in which Bill Clinton became president. The last player to score 50 was Stephan Richer in 89-90, a season which saw the unfication of Germany. The most depressing stat is the following; the last player to score 100 points was Naslund in 86! He is the only Hab to do so in the last 33 years. Notice that the Habs won the Cup in two of the above seasons .

EDIT: It is hard for a coach to win games if he does not have the horses for the race. Give a decent coach some players and he should do well.

Roy is a serious candidate that always gets ridiculed by people because some others blindly throw the name. IMO he's going to get a long look at either GM or coach this offseason.
Not only from us but from Colorado, Columbus, and a handful of other teams who need either a GM or a head coach.

He already turned down Colorado some years ago, I figure he really wants to be here.

PATHETIC!!!!!!!
I don't think that the Habs are as pathetic as it seems. Below is a quick list of the SC winners since the lockout:

2011 - Bost - 8-10g - 3-20g - 1-30g

2010 - Chic - 5-10g - 5-20g - 1-30g

2009 - Pitt - 7-10g - 2-20g - 2-30g

2008 - Detr - 5-10g - 3-20g - 1-20g - 1-40g

2007 - Ana - 4-10g - 4-20 - 1-40g

2006 - Hurr - 3-10g - 2-20g - 3-30g - 1-40g

Having a 40g scorer is definately not necessary to win but having over 9 players that score at least 10+ goals is. Looking forward, if the Habs can get their PP working at a better clip and stay healthy, they have at least 10 players on their roster that can score 10+ goals in the regular season. The 40g scorer might be a detriment. I'd rather have 15 10g scorers rather than 7 scoring 10+ and a 40g scorer.
