No there was not. I watched the replay about 20 times. There were two punches that landed to the direct back of the head. The other shots were all to the side. It was terrible reffing.

Agreed. If it was really more than a punch or two it should've been stopped sooner and a point deducted so that hopefully Prater could recover enough for the fight to continue.

I actually don't blame the ref as much as I do the system. The fight had a decisive finish either way, so you should be able to look at it on a replay (even if it is a few days later) and have the correct result.

I counted two direct shots to the back of the head and at least two glancing blows to it.

Exactly. Anything behind the ear can be ruled an illegal strike. It doesn't need to be at the base of the skull.

The back of the head isn't the size of a dime. I can easily see how at least 4 or 5 of those shots could be considered ones to the back of the head.
