Well, I first became interested in US sports in 2004, as I watched my first Super Bowl that year. During the NFL off-season it became more and more clear to me, that the Eagles would be the team for me, so I became an Eagles fan. Before that year I was a very, very casual hockey fan (rooting for the Red Wings, because Tim Taylor rooted for them

and I liked Yzerman and Fedorov, but not really caring either way). During my first full season following the NFL, the NHL was locked-out, so I didn't really bother to look for a team to root for. That year, the World Ice Hockey Championships were played in Austria and I got infected by hockey fever as well. Having learned a lot about the Philly fanbase during my first season as an eagles fan (passion, knowledge about the game,...) I liked the idea of maybe rooting for the hockey team from Philly as well. After reading up on their history (Broad Street Bullies, etc.) and Forsberg (one of my favourite players) signing with the Flyers, the subject was settled, I was going to be a Flyers fan.
