The only thing that bugs me about his play is that he's trying to do so much with the puck when it's pretty obvious that he shouldn't.

long term read - schenn - simmonds could be a pain in the ass 3rd line to play against.

Simmonds has been good. He plays the type of game that will have peaks and valleys production wise but he gives an all out effort every night. Unfortunately, he is a turnover machine coming out of his own end.

need someone with better hands on 2nd line, he misses a lot of chances on PP too. Perfect 3rd line player for us. Plays as advertised.

I've been hot or cold about him so far. He seems to have really good games, and really bad ones. You could say that for any player though technically so I'm happy to have him on the team overall.

I like players like simmonds who have the ability to score but also do other things.

When he is not scoring the guy can still hit, be a net presence , fight, and just intimidate in general.

But like everyone else is saying, he is just not 2nd line material.

Yeah no way I see him being traded for someone like Grossman. Not that the value is out of this world, but he's been praised by everyone in the organization since he has been here and he was a pretty big part of the Richards deal.

Are you guys starting to believe yet or is he still just a scrappy 3rd line RW who can occasionally chip in?

He is on a hot streak. I would still consider him a 3rd line RW who can occasionally chip in.

When we say third line we mean our third line, which is a third line that Is better than most team's second line.

Big difference between winning in the Regular season and winning in the Playoffs. This team showed last year that hey can dominate in the Regular season.

Right now this team is a high scoring bunch , that type of play is condusive to a successful regular season. Playoffs is a low socring grinding out affair. We played one game like that all year against the Rangers and they made us look bad.

The road to the stanley cup is going through boston. Rangers will be there, maybe pittsburgh too. These teams play great defensively and have top notch goalies. It will be a test for sure.

Yeah, he had a hot streak the first couple of games in the season as well. Until he shows that he can keep up this for a longer period of time, he's a third liner. He didnt' deserve some of the criticism that went his way perhaps, but let's not get carried away too far now that he's doing fine either.

I wasn't expecting more than this (a hard nosed player who will have a streaky point production) from him this year though, so I'm happy with him. If he develops properly we'll have one of the better third line wingers around, that's not too bad.

If he somehow turns into a legitimate top six player, I won't complain, but I'm not seeing that in him.

Great post!

Simmonds is a good player at what he does. He will chip in some goals, but he is at his best along the boards and checking the beejesus out of the other team.

I think he's been our best forward the last 3 weeks. He's been really disruptive and creates alot of chances.

People are ragging on his consistency, but he's what 23?

He was a monster today.

Best player on the ice IMO.

On pace for 20 or so goals

Our 3rd lines aren't like other third lines, as JTown pointed out. "3rd Liner" isn't really a disparage. Hell, 4th line isn't either.

"Useless as Shelley," now that's a disparagement.

I'm just glad he's blowing up and I think Philly is perfect for him.

You might be right. His skin is a lot darker than the rest of the team.

Having both Hartnell and Simmonds is awesome and i think elevates both of their games. WS is gonna be real solid and i want to see him with voracek

I have noticed this too.

He was a total Boss tonight. Dominated the ice. Is it any surprise he has been playing better without Briere on the ice?
