Playoffs or not ?

Hello Fans,

Do you believe that ANA may make it to the playoffs ?

Meaning that so far their season was a nightmare (you know more than I do !)
They seem to rebound ... and very seriously.

And we know that if they play decently (not well, only decently !) they are a good team able to beat many ... if not all.

Therefore my question : their is less than half the regular season left. Do you think that they can catch up and get a playoff spot.

in figures it means that ... 82 games regular season ... they have 47 done ... 35 games left. and they need about 7 points more than the competition. The competition would be Dallas who presently has 50 points with 2 games less ... so 48 games and 54 points. (i took the worst case scenario ... ) and who will be spot number 8 ! if Dallas keeps producing the same points they will end up at 82 games and 92 points. so our Duck will have to produce in 35 games 52 points !!!
That is produce a 1.45 points a game !!! would be like win 1/2 and lose 1/2 in OT. or win 3/4 and lose 1/4 straight ... .

(the 7-2-1 they have now should be maintained and it would work ! projecting the past into the future ... but discussing statistic assumptions isn't the objective here !)

Do you believe it possible ?

Call me crazy ... i say they will make it.
and you ?

I think we should just take it 1 game at a time and not think too far ahead.

On another note: Are you kducks other account? How many people are fans of both the ducks and islanders?

And ... by the way ... if they make it ... then they will be a hell of a tough cookie for the playoffs.

The Ducks are typically stronger during the second half of the season. Our top guys are gonna be beasts down the stretch. I could see them snagging one of the bottom few playoff spots. It's gonna take a lot of work, but something sure has lit a fire under them recently and I see them taking it all the way to the post season. I'm interested to see where we stand come the trade deadline because two weeks ago we were near the league cellar, now we are turning some heads and aren't guaranteed sellers.

Hi Canucks fan here.

I believe the Ducks will indeed make the playoffs because their roster definitely has what it takes to get in. I actually told a buddy a couple weeks back that you guys will be in a playoff spot by game 65. I also said they will go 10-1-1 in January which means that they will win their 3 remaining games in January. If the Ducks can win all their games against the teams they are chasing then they have a good chance. 5 of their next 7 games are against teams whom they are chasing so they are somewhat in control of their destiny. In the end however, they must take it one game at a time because if they lose tomorrow then they could be finished.

I'll say it's a slim chance. Very slim. Microscopic. But there is still a chance, and that's what I like to focus on.

Would be a miracle aka 99.9% not happening, they hit nice streak but they will get unlucky lose and we will see a losing streak follow. I hope they do but need to be a realist

A realist would REALize this team is on fire, and will make it if nothing unseen gets in the way. They seem capable of winning 70% or more from here on out. That sounds lofty, but they are often beating quality teams with relative ease.

We have to be better than Colorado, Dallas, Phoenix, and Minnesota.

as far as im concerned, the only playoff spot available is the one held by the Avs. Im not saying Ducks could only grab the 8th seed, but I don't see any of the top 7 teams in the west right now not making playoffs.

edit: maybe Calgary too since they acquired Cammalleri, but pretty much don't see them making the playoffs, again.

Its possible but very unlikely as Ducks would have to be best team of the league rest of the season. 91 points is about what is needed to 8th spot and that means 1.39 pts/game is needed for the rest of the season. Thats the same avg that Rangers have at this time. (and they have the best pts/game of the league)

I'm sorry for eavesdropping here.
I would put LA in that category as well.
They only survive due to Quick's great play. If he cools down they will be in for a bumpy ride. Against the Avs they had 1 line that created all their chances (Kopitar-line)

If Ducks do better, the others will do worse, which means they won't reach their current projected end-season points.

Ducks will reach playoffs with 89pts

Obvious jinx thread is obvious.

I won't even put my thoughts on the Ducks playoff chances. One game at a time.

As BB would say....win the week. That's all that matters right now, forget playoffs. Take it a week at a time

these next 3 games are absolutely HUGE.. they are all within distance and are teams we're chasing.. we'd be helping ourselves out a ton if we could go into the break getting AT LEAST 4 out of 6... obviously preferably 6/6

Ducks will miss the playoffs

Canes and Isles are winning just as much as we are right now....hence our winning streak and still at the basement.... Canes also have Skinner back

No chance!

Last time i checked, Isles and Canes were on different conference. So, their winning actually could help us, if they beat West teams.

But i`m still pretty sceptical on our chances. #musttakeoneatatime

I thought only Toronto had fans who believed a team 5 games below .500 had any snowball chance at the playoffs. At least we're not like Montreal where doom and gloom is the prevailing emotion.
