Is this guy a cancer in the locker room or something? You guys gave up a blue chip prospect and Voracek for him. Why would Columbus want to trade him already? I really don't think the jackets will get fair value for him at this point, better off holding on to him.

If Dean Lombardi is smart, he won't dare try to reunite Carter/Richards

How does Scott Howson still have a job? I'd like to hear from Columbus fans on this one, because even I a Jets fan get a little bit angry inside watching the way this team is managed.

Columbus should make it very clear to him and his reps, that they don't mind holding onto him until NEXT season's trade deadline,if that's how long it takes to find a trade that's good for their franchise.
I don't think NHL GM's dismiss a large body of work based on a small number of games like posters on these boards tend to do. Carter's had a 40-goal season, 2 30's, 2 20's, and even in this abysmal season with injuries on the worst team in the league, he's on a 27-goal pace.

Carter signed a life-time contract with PHILLY and had to wait one year for the no-trade clause to kick in because of his age. The Flyers pulled the rug out from under him, and this pretty much ensures that no young player will ever sign such a contract again until that NTC is fully in force at the time they sign the contract.

The acquiring team only needs to know that Carter wants to play for them. He wants to have that say which was the spirit and intent
of the contract he signed. A player of this caliber on a $5.2 million cap-hit for the next decade is a good contract. He will fetch a very good return.

What would frighten me, if I'm trading for Carter, is the fact that his injuries are becoming a habit lately. Otherwise, I agree with you.

Harding, brodziak, zucker, 2013 2nd, for Carter, mason. Not sure if that is fair.

Take out the 2nd from Clb and I think it's fair. Helps both teams too.

It's hard to ignore a goal scorer. This whole richards carter thing has been overblown by philly. Surprise surprise.

Has it been overblown?

I'm just saying that if you think there wasn't a problem, then tell me why a team would randomly trade two mid-20 year old players signed to good contracts?...an hour apart.

That tells me something desperately needed to be changed with those two players. And no, Bryzgalov isn't why both were traded (despite what many people seem to think for some reason).

Carter was a bush in Philly and he's still a bush. If you won't play hard in Philly you won't play hard anywhere, and im a pens fan.

It'd be nice to get rid of Ballard's contract but not at the price of Hodgson or Schneider. I don' think Carter would mesh in our top 6.

However I was thinking about cbj/phx swap based around Carter for Gormley as well.

There definitely was a problem and I have no problems with the trades, but it was blown out of proportion. I don't think reuniting them would have any effect on LA. They obviously get along and would probably be pretty motivated if they were given another shot to play together.

The Canucks will eat Mason's salary in exchange for Carter...

maybe
To Van: Carter + Mason
To CBJ: 1st + a prospect (and Hodgson and Schneider are not prospects)

Gillman will take care of the cap.
