Hartnell is a product of his linemates.
Briere and Leino
Giroux and Jagr
Stick him on a 2nd or 3rd line and he's an average player with above average number of falls.
End of story.
I agree with you but that doesn't mean he isn't an all star this year. He's straight up killing it. It's not just that he's out there with good players. He meshes and compliments them well. Remember John LeClair? Without Lindros I doubt he ever reaches 50 goals, let alone three in a row. And LeClair is my all time favorite players and Lindros is one of my all time most hated players.
Stupid penalties or not, the guy is having a great season and deserves to go to the game. Even James Neal(sorry PHI fans), both guys should be heading to All-Star Weekend.
No need to say sorry to us, Neal IS having a great season too. BOTH should be going. What is going to be a real shame (and cause a real pissiong contest between the two fan bases) is if only ONE gets to go as an injury fill-in.
Honestly, they should revise the fan voting so that only one player from any one team can get voted in by the fans so there ISN'T a stuffing of the ballot box. that's just so retarded that they let fans stuff the box and vote in that many undeserving players from one team. All that does is to keep real deserving players from having the chance to go when they have actually earned the RIGHT to go based upon their play on the ice.
Hartnell, whose career high in goals for a season is 30, now is fifth in the League with 25 goals after a huge weekend as the Flyers defeated the Devils on Saturday and lost to the Bruins in a shootout Sunday.
Hartnell scored a pair of power-play goals in their victory Saturday in New Jersey, including the goal that ended up as the game-winner. The next day, with the Flyers down a goal in the second period, Hartnell took over and recorded a natural hat trick, temporarily giving them the lead. Two of those goals also came with the man advantage, and Hartnell now leads the League with 13 power-play goals.
"He got the opportunity to play with Giroux and (Jaromir) Jagr, but at first everyone was using him to be a space-maker out there," Flyers coach Peter Laviolette said. "I don't think that's the case anymore. I think he's a key contributor and a key factor as to why that line is successful. He's got a lot of confidence right now the way he's playing. Tonight his game was excellent; he was physical and obviously offensively he did what he needed to do. He was a competitive guy out there for us. His game has been really good for a long time."
Hartnell is tied for 5th in goals and currently out producing Marian gaborik And Jamie benn and he still isn't named to the allstar game and still has people saying he shouldnt be there. Ridiculous
Elias has more points in fewer games and there is no one from the Devils on the team IIRC. I think he deserves to be on there, but there are others who deserve it just as much. Being that there is no one from the Devils (and now Stars) I think they will go to one of those teams first. Elias-Hartnell-Eriksson all have about the same number of points. There are two Flyers already in the game.
