Seriously, how would you fix our team???

This is getting too terrible. I almost don't want to watch the games anymore. The last time I felt like this was in 1994. And then I DID STOP WATCHING in 1995!!! I didn't come back until Andy Murray was hired.

We can't score.

How would you fix it?

When we were looking for a new coach, several persons here wanted John Hynes. What if we fired Kompon & replaced him with Hynes? Other than that, get rid of ......

Penner
Stoll
Either Richardson or Lewis or BOTH

Bring in......

Ruutu
Poni (nevermind, New Jersey already got him)

????

Sadly, I don't think there are any easy fixes.

If it meant scoring more goals, would you guys be willing to ship Johnson to Philly for (off the top of my head) Simmonds, Voracek, and a 1st? Or maybe JVR or Hartnell?

Just this week, someone advocated trading Bernier and a 1st (and other stuff) for soon-to-be 37-year-old Martin St. Louis. At that time, I thought that was a terrible solution. Right about now, that's not looking so bad.

I really hope DL is on the phone as I type this. This is getting real stupid real fast.

I would remind the fans that the team is young and still learning to play night in and night out.

I would remind the fans that the window on this team doesn't end in 3 months, nor 3 years.

I would remind the fans that the CORE of this team is all 25 and under.

I would tell fans, yes, we have a problem, we are working on it, it's not as easy as playing NHL 12 though.

Then I would continue to do what they are doing, showing belief and faith in the players they have, while continually looking to upgrade.

Let Sutter bring in his own assistants to begin with (if he wants to) Get rid of some centers... bring in a high-scoring winger. Only wish it was this easy...

Same story every season, it doesn't take 3 years for some progress. The Kings are getting worse every year, I don't know about you they were better in 2009-2010 and 2010-2011. Now they're just average who can barely score 2 goals a game.

There is NO excuse, the Kings should be showing some progress not a regress.

Really?

You don't think there has been any progress?

Why, because they are having trouble finishing on some nights?

That's part of them learning how to play night in night out.

Put Voynov on the first Unit PP with Doughty or JJ.

Have Penner use his size and hands for once in front of the net on the first unit of the PP.

Get shots on net quicky and often on the PP.

Trade for Prospal, Gaustad, and LaRose.

Sweet Christ on the cross.

Look, I know this team frustrates the hell out of us but things are NOT as bad some of you think they are.

I'm telling you right now I see this team making the playoffs and winning at least one round. You heard it here first.

2nd line of Lokti-Richards-Lewis. Demote Penner and Stoll to bottom-6 PT or have them sit as healthy scratches.

That and stick with a line combination for at least a few games. Way too much alternating during games is screwing with chemistry and timing.

Voynov has earned more PP time. Kid can shoot the puck.

Trade Stoll. Move Richardson or Lewis up on the second line and make them the designated puck shagger for Richards and Penner when they dump it in.
Teach Doughty and Johnson how to get shots through.
Kick Richards in the nuts whenever he passes the puck or shoots the puck right when the opposition gets in front of him.
Get a role player who can actually shoot the puck, so the Loktionov line is a legitimate scoring threat.

Just teach them that the center of the ice in the offensive zone isn't an area filled with deadly poison.

Problem solved.

Get someone with scoring talent a very offensive minded player for the 2nd lines right wing (doesn't have to be Zach Parise type. Just someone who can score) Get a veteran with playoff experience for the 3rd line. Someone who can chip in some goals as well (ie: 15 goal scorer)

Remind LA Kings fan for umpteenth time that Penner and Stoll are struggling UFA and nobody going to take them.

Wisdom.

This time last month we were fresh off a five-game losing streak and an 8-2 loss to Detroit.

The expectations around here are absolutely ridiculous.

9-2-6 in our last 17.

We went from 11th playing .500 hockey (without OT in mind) to 7th and seven games over .500 (again without OT).

THEN:

It's one thing if this was an untalented team, but we're not. Which adds to the frustration.

Althogh I think all we need to do is trade Stoll+ for a winger at this point. Stoll is killng Richards out there. Penner is showing signs of life. I dont mind his play other than he needs to become meaner.

I think you're onto something.

Bring poison gas to practice. Fill up the corners. Profit!

This most important part of turning this team around is recognizing what pieces fit in here long-term and then getting something for whoever doesnt.

This is about how I look at the team

Williams-Kopitar-?
Brown-Richards-?
?-Loktionov-?
Richardson-Lewis-Clifford

Doughty-Johnson
Scuderi/Mitchell-Voynov
Greene-Martinez

Quick
Bernier

So the way I look at it is: we need 1 legit first line winger, 1 second line winger, 2, 3rd line wingers.

We can trade Stoll, Penner, and Mithcell (or resign Mithcell and trade Scuderi or Greene).

So I am looking at the core staying in place but we need at least 4 more forwards that fill specific roles. No more 4th liners.

Seems like the only way to really fix this is to make all our changes in the offseason and take the summer to learn the system Sutter wants to play

I would remind you that Dean Lombardi is still the GM.

Until that changes, don't expect any more than you currently see.

FTFY. Unless of course, you don't consider Brown, Richards, and Quick to be core players.

Here's a STAT for all the Naysayer Negative Nancy's to choke on ...

Through 49 games LAST SEASON ... the Kings earned 53 Points (26-22-1)

Through 49 games THIS Season the Kings have 56 points (23-16-10)
