The whole Carter fiasco seems to be heating up. Will be interesting to see what happens to him as the deadline approaches. You would think we would be one of the frontrunners for him if he were to become available. Columbus fans seem to want to take almost anything for him at this point, obviously management will want to recoup their losses, but it will be hard for them to get equivalent value, they will likely have to settle for less.

Can we have Simmonds back please? Kings have no size on the 3rd line and Penner is a big softie. Brown and Clifford are the only two guys that cycle or throw the body...Fraser and Hunter are fringe NHL players at this point.

While his size would help,Simmonds would be mired in the goal slump like everyone else.

Do we even have the cap space for that kind of move?

You make it by adding a salary dump.

Seems like you bring up Simmonds in every thread. Like others have said if he was still a king he would be an offensive mess like everyone else. I'm also starting to think you would rather see the kings fight than get W's.

We offered Brad Richards more money. As Dean told the Oilers media a couple weeks ago when asked about how he is going to fit the player he wants into the salary structure 'you get creative'.

Simon Gagne can go on LTIR, but with banked salary cap, I don't think they would have to dump a whole bunch. Penner could go the other way as well. Lots of options.

Yeah, we have a lot of flexibility this year and the next. The 2013-14 season will be where we will have to start counting pennies.

Lets say this happens, where does he play...on the wing? He's a center as far as I know, which would mean Stoll would have to be moved in order for him to play 3rd line center.

Carter has played left wing before, both on Richards' wing and in Columbus. You would have to move Stoll or Penner for salary, but Carter would welcome the chance to play on Carter's wing, obviously

Can everybody **** about Simmonds-Richards comparisons?

1. Simmonds is playing on a line with Sean Coturier and Matt Read. He's also logged even strength minutes with James Van Reimsdyk and Danny Briere.

Read has 15 goals and 31 points, Couturier 10 goals and 19 points.

Briere and JVR have 13 and 11 respectively.

Stoll and Penner have a combined 8 goals. And Gagne, the only other consistent linemate of Richards had 7. Yes all 3 of them combined have AS MANY GOALS AS MATT READ ALONE.

2. Simmonds is logging SIGNIFICANT powerplay time. (Todays game he had EIGHT MINUTES OF PP TIME and 11 of Even strength.) On the PP with him? Giroux and Jagr. Two of the best players out there. The 4th best powerplay in the league.

3. Richards is playing with Jarret 'high and wide' Stoll and Dustin 'pancakes' Penner.

Simmonds is a great player but people acting like he would come back and be putting up the same numbers he has currently in Philly. I'm sorry but you're being stupid about this.

Simmonds has 18 even strength points, and 10 even strength goals. He'll likely finish with about 26-30 even strength points WHICH IS EXACTLY THE PACE HE WAS ON WHEN WE HAD HIM.

Mind you he logged zero PP time on our team.

So for the love of ****ing god, can we stop acting like Simmonds would be doing jack **** on this team already?

Richards is an elite player, he has ZERO HELP right now. And that needs to be addressed. You can't expect the guy to take over a game when he has boat anchors tied to his wings.

And at the same time, of course Simmonds looks amazing, he has two of the best young scorers in the game on his line AND he is on one of the most effective offensive, and powerplay teams in the league.

God damn I can't believe I have to post this, but because guys like Johnny Utah, I do.

Sorry Simmonds got traded. Stop crying about it and asking for him back or acting like he would fix this team, or even be doing well on this team, cause he probably wouldn't

You think Simmonds would make Lewis and Loktionov have more then 1 combined goal?

Do you think Simmonds would make Stoll have more then a 5% shooting percentage?

Do you think Simmonds would make Doughty score more then Matt ****ing Greene?

So PLEASE. We have Mike ****ING Richards now because of him. Enjoy it. And stop whining.

Just watched the Flyers highlights. Schenn had a fight, Simmonds had an assist and they called up Sestito from the AHL and he had a fight. When was the last time the Kings had two fights in a game?

Or yet, when was the last time we called anyone up for Manchester....Or even when was the last time we called anyone up from Manchester who remotely contributed besides Voynov?

I love watching other teams that score, hit, fight and actually try and prove they belong in the AHL because I never see it with our Kings.

Why don't you just post your thoughts over at the fights forum? All you ever posts are about fights, fights and more fights. Believe it or not, hockey is an exciting sport even without the fights.

Of course, I wouldn't expect for you to understand this since you still can't get over the Simmonds trade to the Flyers.

Hockey is exciting, but not in LA this year.

How about Andrei Kostityn and Travis Moen for Dustin Penner and Jarett Stoll? Or throw in Martinez or Drewiske?

No Moen and his grit for the 3rd line and his 9 goals will shut me up...and Kostitsyn's 11 goals, which would be 4th most on the Kings and he would be a good winger for Richards. If Kings keep Penner a 3rd line of Penner-Richards and Kostitsyn is not bad....Kostitsyn is a RW.

I wouldn't expect Moen to keep up his numbers. Besides, he got most of his goals early in the season and really hasn't produced many goals of late. So, we'd basically be overpaying for a cold player in Moen.
