I honestly don't think that Stewart will be moved. He is too much of what we need to give up upon after one season

Awesome game for Backes. As well as Petro, Oshie, Perron, and gotta give props to Reaves and Halak too. Our top line stepped up and lit it up. Nice to get the 2 pts with a big game coming up on Monday!

Berglund is such a huge disappointment though...man.

Hitch's patience will eventually wear thin and I think it is right now. Depending on how the Stillman group decides to invest in the team, a move with Stewart or Berglund is a real possibility.

Unless a great deal comes through, the best case scenario would be Steen and McDonald come back firing and Berglund and Stewart are put into lower roles and they get next season as a last chance.

...apparently the Sabres will be staying in St. Louis a bit longer than expected:

From Enroth's twitter: This road trip just got even worst and longer. We don't have a pilot that can fly us home.

But Stewart has been scoring more. And the return of Steen and McDonald won't bump Berglund down, because neither Steen or McDonald play center. Trading a previous nearly 30 goal scorer from a team that needs scoring is silly. There is no return, apart from another former 30 ish goal scorer the same age, or a good top pairing LHD that even makes a modicum of sense.

One thing this organization has shown is patience. Most fans in all sports have lttle patience and would constantly be making trades or firing coaches and GMs if they could. Think back to last year. There were many Blues fans who wanted to get rid of Oshie and Jackman. Both are having fine seasons this year.

I saw more of that on STLToday than here. And when it was here most of the critics shifted here from STLToday. Given that place is called the Asylum for a reason, I wouldn't classify knowledgeable fans in the group looking to move Jax or Osh.

For the record I have never understood the Jackman hate. The guy is a solid stay at home gritty defensman who plays through injuries and leads.

There's no way that Stewart is moved. After this (poor) season, you can probably resign him for cheap and get a ton of bang for your buck. With the rest of the team playing so well, the Blues can afford to take their time with Stewart.

This is the thing that bugs me, he really isn't scoring more. 5 points in 9 January games, 7 points in 14 December games, that is 12 points in 23 games, a 43 point pace for the entire season. Stewart "scoring more" is still having a terrible season, just not as terrible as the first 2 months. This constant defense of Stewart is growing old, especially when there is nothing to back it up with. If you want to say you want to hold on to him because you think he can figure it out next season, then fine, but don't paint a picture that he is doing anything useful on the ice this season.

Hey guys, good game. It was nice to see the Sabres play mildly competitive against a good team. Just wanted to say I'm a fan of how the Blues play, you guys have amazing uniforms, and David Backes is awesome.

It was nice to see the Blues play the Sabres, my 2nd team and even better to get a win. I love that you guys went back to the current jerseys, the classic look is so much better. Hopefully you guys figure it out soon, I would love a St. Louis-Buffalo final. That or one with Boston would be my preference.

Interesting that Brad Boyes, in hs interview, when asked why The Blues are so hard to beat, mentioned that their defence "gives up nothing", and the only defenceman he mentioned: Carlo Colaiacovo!!! Ha! Ha! Maybe hockey sense is tied to overall sense?

Well hopefully it will show some Blues fans that Colaiacovo is a good defender. Maybe he has something against Petro, Jackman, and Polak?

I don't think anyone has a problem with Colaiacovo's play...It's his durability that we get upset over.

I've had friends of mine who thought he was terrible defensively, which he isn't.

I have, on occasion, expressed expressed my displeasure with the defensive side of his game. It's been less an issue for me this season.

Colaiacovo, when completely healthy, is adequate on defence, and good on the breakout and in the offensive zone (except only so-so at keeping the puck in on the point. It's not so much that he mentioned Colaiacovo as being a stalwart on defence, but that he didn't mention Pietrangelo, Shattenkirk, Jackman and Polak.

Colaiacovo must be his drinking buddy! They first met when both played 3 years together for the Erie Otters in The OHL in Major Junior. Following that, they were both in Toronto's system. Then, together on The Blues. They had a long history together.
