Salo has so much class, I can't think of many other people who would just let it go that easily afterwards.

He's the kinda guy who wouldn't even get angry at his neighbour for cutting the grass at 8AM on a sunday.

I heard a report that Salo was actually taking a run at Marchand which caused Marchand to have to try and defend himself.. resulting in the incident.

Sounds like Sami is slowly approaching a return. No rush though, would rather a fully healthy Sami, over a 90% Sami.

Hopefully MG picks up a defensemen at the deadline though, then Salo can have some reduced minutes and regain them on the PP.

That caught me by surprise too. It sounded like Sami was saying this was his last year...

I thought that was a weird comment as well. But it might just be because he's old and don't have many seasons left, so he's ending it shortly, maybe this year, maybe next, maybe the year after that. There hasn't been any official announcement saying he's stopping after this season, but then again, there's been any saying the opposite either.

why are people surprised by that comment from Salo, it has been no secret that this is his last season. He would have retired last summer if they won the cup and pretty much said he would give it another year since the team is so good still.

Is Sami the last piece still in place from the WCE era? He's our only link!

Yup, I'm not surprised. I believe at the end of last season, he said he might consider retirement, although he wanted to win the cup (hence playing this season).

win the cup for salo this year. then he can go hang up the skates with a ring. spending time with his family. Injuries have been tough on sami for the last few years. its time for vancouver to reward there longest serving nuck IMO. after the sedins.

I definitely think this year should be a Win it for Sami campaign. He deserves it, he stuck with this organization through the dark days and has only been a stand up player and devoted to the team.

After Linden and Naslund, I can't think of another Canuck who deserved it more than he does.

*win it for sami* should be the slogan for the nucks this year heading into the playoffs.

If you want to get technical, Burrows and Bieksa both played in the 05/06 season as well (for parts of it, anyway).

But the Sedins were the only "core" players from that era.

Back to Salo - not surprised he is considering this as his final season. I sure hope we can get him a Cup to bid him adieu on...that would be great.

Salo in full practice today and will play against Edmonton tomorrow. Tanev back to Chicago. This according to Dan Murphy of sportsnet.

I suppose that Tanev needs to play until the Wolves are out of the playoffs. Hopefully he'll get his chance during the POs.
