"McColgan sees the ice well, has great hands, and definitely isn’t afraid to go to the dirty areas. The big question on everyone’s mind is whether or not he will be able to play his style at the pro level. The 5-9 McColgan hasn’t let his size hold him back yet, as he has proven a willingness to battle with any player in the WHL while generally staying healthy. If he can get his game to the next level, he could be a big draft day steal."

"Plays fearlessly as a Kelowna Rocket with a great speed/skill ratio puck and does so at top end speed, maybe faster than anyone in this draft class. Has a nice snap shot, and passes well, but what sets him apart is the quick first step and the gears. Not big, and needs heaps of weight-room strength. Never the less, he brings all he does have in the attack zone."

Oh God, please, no Pashnin. I fought last summer with people over him and nobody wanted to believe me. I heard what a great prospect he was. Then the Rangers decided they don't even want him in camp (that's the most believable story on him because both Pashnin and his coach Sergey Nemchinov said that he wants to leave Russia), and Russian reports were saying that he spent most of the year on the bottom defense pairing of a non-playoff KHL team.
He's an undersized "tough" defenseman. He has no NHL future. He will spend his career as an "only-ok" defenseman in the KHL.
Let him go. He shouldn't be in our top-20, not even an honorable mention. Let the dream go. Just because he was a first overall in the KHL draft, doesn't mean he's any good. The KHL draft is not like the NHL entry draft, it's more like the NHL waiver draft because KHL teams get to protect all the good prospects that came up through their junior systems (Russian major league teams run their own junior programs).
Where'd you get the 5'11" stat on McColgan, RangerEsq? As of camp, I recall him being much smaller than that (both in terms of his official listing and how big he looked on the ice).
A growth spurt would be great for his future prospects - did he actually have one? Or is that just typical media guide inflation?
Went with Parlett by a hair over Lindberg; add Pashnin (despite RangerEsq's very well-thought out and compelling argument against him. I just like the idea of a modern day Kasparaitis.)
The WHL has McColgan listed at 5'9" and 170, as does Kelowna's site. Rangers site has him at 5'9" and 165. Elite Prospects has him at 5'9.5" and 170. HockeyDB is the only place to list him at 5'11", which is strange since they get all of their information from elsewhere.

If you've seen him on the ice, you know that even 5'9" is stretching it.
I voted for Noreau because he's doing darn well for a guy D-man with his size & toughness.
I liked Lindberg at the start of the season, but at twenty & in his third season in the SEL, he should be stepping up. But he isn't. It's all about showing improvement when you're a young prospect.
I'd add Chad Johnson, but it's almost not worth adding any more non-prospects to the list.
Bourque is a lost cause for this round, but should be added next. He's definitely top 20 worth out of all the reamining "prospects" not on the list. Jason Wilson would be the only other one I'd add outside Johnson and Bourque. Everyone else is a pretender in my book.
I would also like to know: When are the next set of rankings done? After the draft? At season's end before draft then after? If after the draft, our next series of rankings will be insane with the next crop of draft selections on to of Hagelin being the only graduating player. Just for that, I hope we can keep most of our draft choices, especially the first.
i can see the Rangers grabbing some more D in this next draft. Yes, our entire D-roster in the NHL (when healthy) is under 27, and Erixon and McI are top end prospects, but after that, its a HUGE drop-off in terms of quality and depth.
We need some more future Sauers at the least to keep our bottom pair on nice cheap ELCs
