Versatile player able to play center or wing, though most contenders would likely deploy him as a 3rd line LW or on their checking line. Very good PKer. Good along the boards. Rarely makes defensive zone errors. Can pitch in 25-40 pts (82-game pace) depending on the season. He's skated better this season than he has in awhile, IMO. Does the small things to make lines work--he was a key piece on our top line with Briere-Pominville in 2006-07, and was excellent with Connolly-Pominville in 2009-10.
Cap hit of $3.525 is a bit exorbitant, but not as much of a concern when 24 teams have over $5m in cap hit space as of right now for the deadline.
What would your team offer for Hecht? Sabres would prefer draft picks.
