Your expendable young Goalie to the Oilers

Basically, Goaltending is a huge need for Edmonton. So I want to gauge the value of the likes of: Lindback, Bernier, Scnieder or other young potential number ones to the Oil. Trade bait is Hemsky, MPS (prepare to overpay), Sutton, Belenger and picks and prospects (within reason). So what will it take to get a young potential number one to Edm.

Expendable* I'm an idiot

I'm sure you meant "expendable".

Maybe look towards the Blues and Ben Bishop, he's large enough you might think he's expandable too

How about Nitty for the rest of this season and Sexsmith (check his AHL play) for next? You can have both for some sort of pick (or picks) I expect. Or if you have any forward prospects with Top 6 potential, we'll take those too.

They should bring Andrei Medvedev out of retirement.

Highly doubt EDM goes for that. The first is probably going to be in the lottery and if I was Edmonton, I wouldn't touch Ballard.

Dubnyk's pretty ehh and MPS has 38 pts in 111 NHL games, so this is pretty much Cory Schneider and Ballard and a 2nd for Edmonton's first. Even so, I'd do it in a second. That's potentially Schneider for Nail Yakupov. No way Edmonton makes this trade.

That 2012 1st would probably be too much to handle for Vancouver/

- Lehner (G)
- Gonchar (D)
- Wiercioch (D)
- Da Costa (F)
- Butler (F)

- MPS (F)
- Sutton (D)

Now I know the first thing that will be said... quantity doesn't equal quality. If the Oilers want to continue to build thru youth, then this package does just that. Gonchar is there for salary purposes and while he only has one more year left on his contract, could be a good mentor. All the other pieces have above average potential to be NHL players with Lehner being touted as the Sens goalie of the future.

From an Ottawa POV, I expect fans aren't going to like this offer because they value Lehner alot and to a lesser extent, Wiercioch. I do this because we need a top 6 player (admittingly, MPS isn't there yet) and we need a tough shot blocker dman for the playoffs.

Not sure if Ottawa is giving too much or if Oilers need to add but that's basically what I'd like from Edmonton.

Like Vaasa said, if you want a relative bargain the Sharks are absolutely stacked a goal. You could get Niitty/Sexsmith/Stalock or possibly Sateri for the right pick/player in return.

Stalock is the most NHL ready and I believe will be an NHL starter. He's a great puck handler and a 'never gives up' kind of guy. We need the contract space though, and we need a 3rd liner that can fill in for our top-6 when needed.

Actually you may be onto something the other way.

Teams headed for the playoffs won't risk trading quality backups but this summer should be a good time to acquire and should provide at least a couple decent options.

That package from Edmonton wouldn't get Lehner alone.

What's scarier is that you're an Ottawa fan. Have you ever seen Lehner play?

I take this as the Oil, and don't think the Sens get ripped off. I don't think the Oilers would want Gonchar, and the Sens would want him in the playoffs, so unless this is for Salary purposes, Gonchar doesn't need to be here. Butler/Da Costa could fill a bottom 6 hole on the Oilers at least for the short term, and Wiercioch is a decent prospect for the Oilers system. Lehner could be the man in Oil Country.

Yes sir. Really like Wiercoch.

Also, Hemsky for Neuvirth/Holtby.

This is just awful.

Maybe Paajarvi and Dubnyk alone for Schneider.

You dump a bad contract and get that package, including a lottery pick, for Schneider?

I dont see that happening. Goalies do not have that value these days.
