Politics aside, this had to have been awkward for his teammates and management. Suck it up and be with your team to celebrate your Stanley Cup win. He took one of the least politically motivated events that is ever held in the White House and turned all of the attention (most likely unintentionally)onto himself and his personal political beliefs.
Ehh...he's on pace for 67pts, which is not bad by any means, but it's like when Jagr was putting up around 100 pts with the Rangers and a 'dissapointment'.
Random fact: Jagr is on pace for 63 pts. this season.

"This is being done at the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial level. This is in direct opposition to the Constitution and the Founding Fathers vision for the Federal government.
"Because I believe this, today I exercised my right as a Free Citizen, and did not visit the White House. This was not about politics or party, as in my opinion both parties are responsible for the situation we are in as a country. This was about a choice I had to make as an INDIVIDUAL.

I've already posted my thoughts about Thomas on the political board, so I won't bother here.
Don't understand why they fired her? Are they trying to avoid a potential lawsuit with this Dbag or something? Can see where the moron would attempt to make a case. Pathetic really.
I like that Thomas skipped out on the White House visit, because the Bruins need llama drama about how Thomas, I think the only American on the team when they won the cup, put himself before the team.
Query, what would he have done if he won the gold medal?
They said the incident wasn't the only deciding factor so who knows. But still, the person has been working there since 2009. I thought there would have been some forgiveness like with the octopus incident, which made us look much worse imo.
I would have also thought that someone higher up gave the order to go have a little fun on an opposing fan. I don't think a mascot would look around and try to find something (in this case silly string)to go into the stands with to cause mischief without the green light, unless that's exactly what happened.

An anonymous NHL player wrote a piece for Puck Daddy about why the realignment failed with the PA.
Quote:
...At this point the proposal was put to the NHLPA. We could either say "yes" or "no" but we could not, according to the CBA, "unreasonably" withhold our consent. As a group the players had two main concerns — the competitive disadvantage of the teams in the eight-team conferences, and the effect that the new schedule would have on travel.
With that in mind we set out to have some questions answered by the League office.
Would they be willing to discuss any changes to the playoff format? It's pretty obvious that the "Plan" wouldn't be fair for the Eastern and Central teams. It wouldn't be fair to those players. Nor would it be fair, for that matter, to the fans of those teams, nor to the owners of those teams (who would have a 7-percent less chance of cashing in on playoff revenue each season).
Would Bettman and the owners be willing to consider some sort of wild card scenario to make the chances of playoff qualification more equitable for all the teams?
Gary's answer was clear. He was not willing to discuss different recommendations because he was not interested in our opinions. This was not a negotiation. All he wanted from the union was a yes or a no.
The sham known as the 'NHL All-Star Draft' starts at 7:30pm.
It's a sham event because Stamkos is the only Lightning player represented. At least the entire Tampa Bay Lightning team needs to be there without it feeling like the league is pandering to the 29 other teams.
