He's been fine, no reason to trade him. Since we don't have a true #1, rolling with three high quality #2s is fine by me.

He provides much better bang for the buck than Komi, Lombardi or Armstrong.

Won't be traded unless it's for an immediate upgrade. Plus his contract expires during the great 2013 offseason for centremen and by then this team should be solid enough to attract a high-end UFA to replace him if need be.

I'd rather not have him playing third line minutes. There's no doubt his talent is there. But he just never brings it. Skates around like he doesn't give a damn. Cannot win a draw in the offensive zone to save his life. I'd much rather see Colborne up starting to build chemistry with Kadri than have a 4.5 million dollar bump on a log. He has his moments but they are too few and far away for his paycheck.

Fellow leaf fans this was a bad signing. Let's face it. He was brought in to play 1st line minutes and he can't even handle them. You all know I'm right, you guys just don't want to admit it.

No, you're not. So many wrong things with your post, but your idea of Colborne replacing him is just too much ignorance.

No, he can handle top line minutes, he has done it on various occasions. He WAS brought in to fill top line minutes but the evolution of Tyler Bozak as a centre astounded all of us. Bozak deserves to be there he is playing phenomenal between Lups and Kess.

Still, did you actually expect 60+ points or something? 24 points in 35+ games or so is exceeding my expectations. I thought he was going to be awful, or even worse, not play a single game due to injury.

Nope, he's been producing as expected. A fine stop gap.

When we eventually make the playoffs (not this year), he may come in handy. With Connolly, you can expect his performance to go downhill even more. Have fun with that.

ooh we're stuck with Connolly for two season.

the fact that he played more than half the GP so far is good enough for me.

He's literally come as advertised - a 60ish point center when healthy. Thats mainly why he got a short term deal. If you expected a star center you have illusions of grandeur.

I dont understand the hate. 4.75 UFA contract for a 60 point center? not that bad.

And I'd much rather win games.... Connolly helps us do that a lot more than Joe Colborne.

The only reason Connolly hasn't been playing top line minutes is because it hasn't made a substantial difference as to whether they play with Bozak or Connolly, and whereas Connolly tends to produce more when not playing with those 2.

Colborne is not ready yet. Needs more time in the A as he proved earlier in the season. Any knowledgeable hockey fan should know this. Rushing him in his development would be a huge mistake and might ruin the potential this kid has.

Connolly was brought in as a stop gap 1/2 centreman, probably until Kadri and Colborne are actually ready to produce at an NHL level. He's bouncing around the second and third line and performing just fine. Doing exactly what any knowledgeable Leaf fans would have predicted going into this season on a reasonable contract.

As for a bad free agent singing, he is only 8 points behind the grand slam awesome UFA Brad Richards which once again Slats greatly overpaid to aquire.

I liked the signing in July and I like it today. My only concern was the injury bug and so far it hasn't bit him all that hard.
