From this it does actually look like he is simply having a strop.
Didn't he say he didnt want to be a distraction?

He's been a dead man walking anyway...the Carter deal whether he keeps him or not is going to haunt that team. He's also been horrid with his draft picks..although Voracek looks like he'll pan out...too bad he traded him...LOL! Thank you Howson for playing right into our sell high scheme......

I know JVR is on that list, but I don't think the flyers really have any intention of trading him, maybe some fans. But the team knows he's been hurt most of the year. With the concussion, he should really get a pass for this year.

I have a feeling that if #1 d-men is offered Flyers will make a move.

and why not? We have Couturier, Schenn, Giroux, Simmonds, Voracek, Read. All very young and show a lot of promise. Hartnell is alos not that old. Plus we are good at drafting forwards.

He did that this past summer

- Signed a #4/5 dman to #1 money
- Decided to go with Mason and not sign a guy who could fight him for job
- Signed guys like Martinek who are at end of career to "Turn team D around"

+
- His choice of coach sucked
- His draft picks for most part have sucked

I aint complaining ,, Central is war enough its good to have 1 team totally suck

Yeah, I'd be surprised if he isn't let go before season's end.

Man, what I wouldn't give to see Grabovsky in the Flyers' uniform. I don't like the idea of trading JVR, but if it's for him, sign me up.

#1 d-man? Sure. Though that's unlikely. That's Suter/Weber. We're in a better spot not to give up any roster players and acquire Gleason, Kubina, or Gill. If we don't need to move any of our top players, then we shouldn't

I agree. I'd make a move for Kubina, Gill, Grossman and relax. Gleason will cost us and I like Gleason.

I'm on the Buffalo-NJ game now. It looks like Buffalo is content with just getting the puck into the Devils zone.

"There! It's in their end! Another success."

Nothing wrong with trying to gain some yards

Many people in the hockey world were waiting for Arniel to get his shot at the NHL level. He was one of the most coveted coaches not currently employed in the NHL when he was hired.

It obviously didn't work out in Columbus for Arniel, but it's more akin to a great junior player that failed out of the gate then Howson taking a shot in the dark on some unknown.

Everything else Howson has done has been correctly criticized, though.

Ottawa just had a tying goal waived off, and Foligno was given 2 min for goalie interference on a pretty benign play. Somebody had better take all sharp objects out of the Senator announcer booth.

Haha, check out NHL.com's highlights from the Maple Leafs - Islanders game. At around 2:55, you'll see a rather unassuming guy casually trolling in a Flyers jersey

Hah, I spent 30 minutes or so reading old threads in the Trade forum. From July 1st 2007.
The Briere signing thread is amazing.

Our own GKJ replies to this "8 years? lol that's AWFUL. Price isn't that bad though." with: By the time that he's old and if it's not worth it, we can buy him out because the contract is front loaded. Look at what the Rangers paid, I'll take Briere if it meant this contract, even though I'd rather have Gomez or Drury.

Other brilliant post from anonymous user: I can't think of a worse contract handed out in NHL history nevermind just on July 1st.

http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh...=395622&page=1

Kinda fun to read.

I like going back in time, too, and checking out posts at certain points over the past few years. However, context is important to keep in mind when evaluating the logic of a post. Think about the cap ceiling situation when Brière was signed; who knew it would have ballooned in just a few years? As for Brière himself, I shudder to check what I may have offered as a comparison with Gomez or Drury.

Not sure what to think of this.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=386045

The Leafs just signed John Michael Liles to a 4 year contract extension. His contract that he is on now has a cap hit of $4.2 million. This contract he just signed is worth only $3.875 million. He has put up similar point numbers to Carle over the years (with the slight advantage to Liles).

Might help out in keeping Carle for less. Liles is 4 years older than Carle, however

Im not a huge Matt Carle fan but I would like to keep him around for about the same deal as Liles but would go up to $4 million
