To Tampa Bay:
Cory Schneider, Jordan Schroeder, Keith Ballard
To Vancouver:
TB's 2012 3rd round pick, Steve Downie, Matt Gilroy, Mathieu Garon, Pavel Kubina
i think the canucks can do better for Schneider than Downie and a few rentals, esp if they'e including one of their top prospects (Ballard pretty much = 3rd)
though would admit to not knowing THAT much about Kubina and Gilroy
Tampa takes this so fast that the speed of Yzerman hanging up the phone after saying "deal" and faxing it to the league offices for approval causes the earth's rotation to suddenly skip and send all of humanity hurling into outer space.

Van have no need in these players. These players have very limited value. You don't just move Schneider for them. Downie is nice but he bring a LOT of penalty minutes and not so much scoring (lately).

This is exactly it.
Garon is redundant - see Lack
Gilroy is redundant - see Tanev
(both are better)
and Kubina is redundant - see pylons used in practice
I'm not actually totally against this. Gilroy and a third mean nothing to me, so a bottom line/third line winger and maybe a 2nd in their place and I'd be ok with the swap. Kubina beats Ballard, and has a shorter term with a similar cap hit, Garon isn't amazing but would be a suitable back up, and Downie is the most valuable piece coming back.
Not perfect or accpetable as is, but if Tampa is on board, some tweaks could make this work for me.
This looks nice. If we did this at the draft I would even take Carter Ashton instead of Downie, let him play for the Wolves next year on a line with Schroeder and Jensen.
The ultimate playoff performer. The perfect combo of skill and will, I dont care that he's tiny...he fears no man.
Yeah, I would straight up trade Schneider, Raymond, our 1st, and Ballard for St. Louis
He's one hell of a player. He's already won the Cup and to see him take game 7 vs BOS last year so hard...the guy hates to lose. If we add him to the roster, I see no reason why we're not the favourites heading into April.
What if Tampa Bay replaces Downie with St.louis, Vancouver adds a pick and move Tampas up from 3rd to 4th
Hell drop Tampa's pick entirely. St. Louis, Kubina, Garon and Gilroy for Schneider, Schroeder, Ballard and a pick? Hell yes, cap ramifications be damned. If it is a slightly lower pick, drop Gilroy as well, as his salary we don't need.
I don't care if it's sarcasm, I'd run with that deal.
D Sedin – H Sedin – Burrows
Booth – Kesler – Higgins
Raymond – Hodgson – Hansen
Malhotra - Lapierre - Downie
Weise
Hamhuis – Bieksa
Edler – Kubina
Rome – Salo
Alberts – Gilroy
Luongo
Garon
Tampa gets the goalie they need, a top 4 defenseman that actually fits their style of defense & not Vancouver’s plus a very talented prospect. Ballard to TB is a must in order to have cap limits work. I was either Ballard’s salary or Kesler’s salary to make it work.
Vancouver gets an early third where they don’t have a 3rd round pick, two right side defensemen (a end paring shutdown and a 3rd pairing/spare rushing D, an excellent pest who can score for the 4th line plus one of the better backup goalies to replace the loss of Schneider.
I'd rather give up Schroeder than Raymond. I think Raymond is just on the verge of becoming an elite player plus he plays well with Hodgson. I also think Gilroy is very under-rated.
