Roy is both GM and Coach with a team that's been really good for years now. He worked with quite a few young Europeans and he really is good at developing younger players. Hes emotional as a coach but not as a GM. This guy is money and if the habs have a chance to grab him, well its a no brainer.

you can never say never,Thornton will jump in there with pretty much anyone he danced with BGL, you got to hand it to him .He is UFA , waive money.

Kaberle i trade at deadline.
Gomez , Im hoping a buy out window in new CBA .
Gallagher i like, prefer to not rush him ,start AHL and first injury call.

Mystery D man 1 could be Markkkk,,you now who...

Mystery dman 8 ?take a pick .

Solid line up, your got sizzle, and you got tough like 2 dollar steak .

SELLL SELLL SELLL , that will take care of it .

He isn't suggesting throwing games, you trade your better players ,take the picks
and players, prospects, and call up the young guys to gain experience for rest of season.

That's not throwing games when your 11 pts out with 34 game to go, it's developing your young talent for next season .

Call up Leblanc ,St Denis, Avstin ,APJ ,Enq,etc, trade Gill and whoever else won't be back next year.

Hunt for good UFA's in off season .

High draft pick too Grigorenko
Totally agree! Everyone is fighting and arguing for and against tanking. But on draft day, we'll all be in happy and in total agreement if we get a high pick!

oh give me a break...

Tell me whats the problem in selling the dead weight and play the kids for the remaining of THIS year?

Roy just gained a couple points in my book today. If you are going to finish out of the playoffs, may as well make it worth it. Enough of this average team with average players. Time to draft a superstar we can be excited about for the next 15 years.

he already said he will listen to NHL offers, has an out clause.

I say get him .

There is the young superstar , QUEBEC already knows so well.

No questions, he is a Quebecer , Kovy style but more bring it .

He'd have the Bell jumpin

The Habs could land Radulov, with Roy ,no question.

Grigorenko, luck of the draw...but man we'd be set to take the next step .

There would be something to look forward too.

Only reason he isn't here already is because he doesn't want to play out his ELC on Nashville. If a team like Montreal was willing to give him a realistic deal even if it was a 1-2 year trial he'd jump all over it. Nashville wants the guy making like 2mil per for 5 years practically, come on.

LOL, I saw this as the thread for the Northeast division and thought it was Derek Roy.

I was like, "Really, Derek? You said this in public?"

If Detroit comes in tomorrow and does what St. Louis did when they came in (dominate from start to finish), and win easily... full tank mode will be on. If the teams ahead lose tonight, and the Habs' win tomorrow, PG will be buying after the break.

If Habs make Roy coach , put the farm on Radulov in Montreal.
In the worst way Montreal needs Radulov.
Gauthier can say more garbage goals is the answer, but this is the guy who FILLS those EMPTY seats at Bell.

I'm trying to figure out what makes Roy such a seemingly-attractive choice for head coach, outside of name recognition, and I'm really not seeing it.

Imagine him doing that after a goal against the B's.

(Yes, he was looking at the other team's bench.)

What did Serge Savard just say?Would Molson listen to Savard?

Let's be honest, Cunny over Roy.....?

11 coaches in 19 years.....what is the risk.

Quote:
“Do you think Patrick Roy would be interested?” Savard was asked.

“I think so, under certain conditions,” Savard promptly replied.

Needless to say, he didn’t elaborate on the “certain conditions” Roy would want.

With Patrick, it’s all about passion,” Savard explained. “I could see him accepting the job and getting the best out of his players. His junior team in Quebec is a gold mine. And it’s been a winner because of the passion Roy brings to every game – just as he did with us.

So you prefer to watch boring hockey, not make the playoffs and not get a top 5 pick? That's what we are talking about right now...
