Jacques Martin would be a good head coach for the habs.

I'll never be pissed if they do make the playoffs. I'll be pissed if don't by 2 points, though

I think at this point I prefer hoping for a top 4-5 pick. If we finish 25+ I'd prefer to make the playoffs.

Its very possible we make the playoffs

if we go on a 4-5 game win streak we're gonna be back on track!

But I personally would rather lose 4-5 games so we get back in the lottery picking game lol

maybe martin really does believe this but what a coach thinks and what a coach says to the media are often two different things.

When martin talks to the media, I often have the feeling that he simply gives the most non controversial answers, whether they are truthful or not.

Its worrying imho. Either the org (Martin is still part of it) thinks the fans are idiots that will believe anything or they are completely delusional.

Fair point. Martin saying the Habs won't make the playoffs would be on the cover of Journal de Montreal.

4-5 game winning streak would only have us within 4-5 points on the playoffs.

Right now we would technically need 10 more points to be a playoff team since we are out by 8 and both teams have games in hand PLUS we'd have to beat out 3 teams for 7th or 8th as pittsburgh will probably not be caught and is 13 ahead.

If we were to get 10 out of 10 the next 5 games, the teams ahead of us would get at least 5, 6 or 7 so we'd probably be 5-6 points back even after winning 5 straight.

If those teams maintain their current pace...

Washington 92 points, Toronto 90 points, New Jersey 94.

We would need 93 to get in, so 48 points in 34 games...24-10-0 or 22-8-4 that's .706 winning%.

Kind of hard to make the playoffs when TSN's top 200 player ranking has only 4 habs players.... the first one being #80 Eric Cole....#86 Max Pacioretty.....#112 Carey Price.....and #163 PK Subban!

JM's covering his a$$ because he's a big part of the reason we're not in the playoffs right now.

He works for the organization, they're not going to admit we're not making the playoffs until the last game of the season when we've been eliminated for a month.

I think he is full of it about playoffs,,,,

but WHAT concerns me more is ,him involved with our prospects, hasn't he damaged it enough?

He probably still is some kind of an assistant to Pierre Gauthier and Gauthier probably still believes in playoffs also and is constantly trying to make a trade to make a playoff push.

I don't mind JM thinks we'll make the playoffs. The problem is it suggests other people at the Bell Center could think the same thing... As long as supernatural events occuring isn't the basis for their trade deadline strategy.

He's still employed by the team, what is he supposed to say ? "We have sucked all year but now that I'm gone there's no chance in hell we make it to the dance ! That creepy ghost who canned me doesn't know what he's doing ! We are doomed"

Of course he says that. Doesn't mean he believes it. Doesn't mean it's happening. Doesn't even mean it would be a good thing... Just something he has to say.

I would say the same with 3 million $ left on my contract.

Martin is still an employee of the Habs, not surprising.
Habs management will never admit to not making the POs unless we're officially out of the race. I don't think any GM would say that actually, not publicly.

We're 2 points away from having a shot at Grigorenko or Yakupov. Getting 3rd, and drawing 2nd.
