He only played 10 games 3g 3a with a minus 3. Unfortunately I never got to see him this year before his injury. He is back skating and will be at Canada's Junior camp on the 10th.

Thats why it dropped compared to Dumba and Rielly(before hes surgery) in some rankings. I'd still take him over Dumba anytime though.
Hes still probably 3-5, if he falls further than that I'll be shocked. But I said the same thing about Fowler and Gormely too.

Saw him once before the injury. Started the game slow and made some bad plays with the puck, but consistently got stronger as the game went along.

His stats are also lowered due to how bad his team is. Figured I would throw that out there.

His team is terrible. Look at how much Tyler Maxwell's stats rocketed once he got traded to an above-average team like Edmonton. Everett is beyond awful.

Ryan Murray

Is it conceivable that Everett would trade Murray this season ? Is this something that you think Everett has discussed with other teams ?? If yes, are there any destinations where he might be a good fit or you think he may end up ? Just curious.

The WHL trade deadline is passed.

And before that, their GM said that Murray would be drafted into the NHL as a Silvertip.

Next year? I bet several teams will be after him hard, including the Blades who will be hosting the Mem Cup in 2013 and could use an elite two way defender.

I'd say unless Nashville drafts him he is a lock. Or maybe Winnipeg cause they seem like a club that wants to play everything safe.

Or the Leafs (deep blueline) but they would probably draft a forward.

Too many factors. We'll see. With that being said, I've gone on record saying that I thought he could have played in the NHL this year as a young 18 year old.

the fact that he is stocky and plays a very celebral game will go a long way to getting him a spot on an NHL roster next year. I can't think of a more perfect fit for the oilers if they are drafting outside the top 2.

How does Murray compare to the Ds of previous years, players like Pietrangelo, EJ, JJ, Larson, OEL, Hedman etc?

I'd say he can best be compared to Pietrangelo or Larsson. Murray probably won't ever be a 45-60 point defenseman, but he's reliable on both ends of the ice. (way to omit Fowler by the way...and Doughty I guess)

I say 10 years from now it'll look like

Pietrangelo
Doughty
Larsson
Murray
Fowler
Jack Johnson
Erik Johnson
OEL
Hedman

You sure nailed it last year with RNH. Looking forward to seeing how you do with your Murray prediction. Although at this point you don't even have the benefit of knowing what team has him. Kid sure had some crappy luck at the world jr's. lol ! How has he looked since ?

Haven't seen him since, unfortunately.

But thanks for the credit on the RNH thing.

He said in a radio interview that he modeled his game from watching Niedermayer.

New GM and major front office changes since then, but I agree that there's no reason to say Winnipeg make the "safe" draft picks, last year they made probably the biggest "WTF!?!?!?" pick by taking Scheifele over Couturier and Hamilton.

I think when compared to recent draftees, his game is very similar to Adam Larsson's, but Murray is a much better skater.

I honestly think the low-end of Murray's potential is Dan Hamhuis, and if you dont watch the Canucks often that might sound like a bit of a slight for the top d-man in this draft. It isn't, Dan Hamhuis plays the toughest minutes on the team and has one of the lowest panic threshold's in the league.

I really like this player.
