Boucher >>> Randy Cunneyworth

... and it's not even close.

I dont look at cups as a huge criteria. I mean, when you include the french thing into it, it makes a guy like Bob Hartley a prime candidate.... no thanks.

Stanley cup winning coaches from the last 20 years who are currently available:

Randy Carlyle
Bob Hartley
Marc Crawford

Not bad, two of the three speak french.

Oh right, I forgot that speaking french was not allowed. Randy Carlyle it is, then.

I want a coach who knows what the **** he's doing. I don't care if he's mute and vomits every 10 seconds.

So many players that have said that Boucher was the best coach they even had and that they learned so many things with him....not sure how he wouldn't be a good addition. Don't take anybody's word from this board....just take the guys that happen to play for him. Now, Yzerman knows that as well. There is just no way Boucher goes right now.

In an ideal world, I'd like that too. But who do you have in mind ? Like somebody else said, with the french criteria (sadly) , that only leaves Hartley and Crawford. Can't say I'd be a fan of any of those hires.

My wet dream is that Detroit gets bumped early in the playoffs and Babcock decides that it's time to embrace a new challenge. With the McGill connection, think he'd a have a soft spot for the Montreal job. And if a guy like him becomes available, it would be criminal to look past him cause of the language.

If not, IMHO Guy Boucher would indeed be a good choice ; especially if we go with a full-on youth movement.

Yes please! Tampa's main problem isn't Boucher is their ECHL level defense and goaltending which last time I checked, is Stevie Y's department.

I'd rather keep Cunneyworth than get Boucher.

People complained about Martin and his defensive system....has anybody ever watched Bouchers system??? He makes Martin look like an offensive dynamo!!!

People need to get over the fascination with Guy Boucher.

Reality has hit Guy and the Lightning like a ton of bricks this season.

We can do FAR better in seeking the next head coach.

Marc André Bergeron is their number four defensemen at the moment. Their goaltending is split between Roloson who happens to be about 89 years old with han an horrid save percentage of 0.882 and Mathieu Garon. Garon is probably Roloson's illegetimate grandson. Anyways he has a less than stellar 0.902 save percentage.

Let me put things in perspective : it would be like having 2005-06 José Théodore and David Aebischer as a 1a/1b goaltender tandem.

People wonder why Boucher has his team play a very defensive game when he has one of the most putrid goaltending duo and defense in the league. Playing a run and gun style he'd probably have 200 goals against by now. He's no magician, the team he's been given to run by Yzerman is just not good.

NHL players seem to like him pretty well too.

http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/alls...e-to-play-for/

And take note he is also tops in this one as well, which says something considering that means players know he has high expectations and demands a lot from his players, but they still want to play for him.

Boucher isnt going anywhere. He is here for the long run. He hasnt lost the room, at all. If that were the case why would TB be tops in the league in 3rd period comebacks? If TB had even a halfway decent goalie they would be in the playoff race right now easily. Not to mention we are being killed by injuries. They currently have 9 starters out of the lineup.

Reality of needing a goalie and reality of the injury bug coming for a visit and staying all year. Yes.

But I agree with your first part, because you arent getting him.

Garioch wouldn't make things up to just fill space and meet a deadline, would he.

If true and comes to pass -- Cunnyworth or Boucher?
Neither! Id prefer Roy....

I highly doubt Boucher would be let go any time soon. As mentioned their goaltending has been subpar for most of the season and their defense has been average at best.

Both.

Boucher as head, Cunney as assistant. Cunney is a smart guy, but you can tell he's got trouble putting things together.

Tampa is in a similar situation to us. Missing Ohlund and Hedman missed about 20 games too.

Not to mention their goaltending is pathetic.
