Can't see the flyers moving read...playing well on a friendly contract. They can fill the hole on D for less I believe.

Pass from Philly. Flyers need a shut down defenseman and too me Oduya and Stuart are far from that. Read and Simmonds have good contracts so you'd have to really give up something good. Read who's at under 1 million for 2 more years while Simmonds is under 2 million for another year.

Not that I would do this trade from either side, but the bolded part of your statement tells me you don't know much about Stuart. Guy is a rock on the the blueline. Very underrated league wide, but much appreciated in Winnipeg. I WOULD NOT TRADE STUART for either.

Oduya I can see being moved, but from a Flyers perspective, I wouldn't trade Simmonds or Read for him.

As a Flyers fan who has caught a few Jets games, I share your assessment of Stuart--I think he would be a useful addition for the Flyers.

But given Read's cap-based value and the Flyers already substantial investment in their blueline, I don't see a Read-Stuart swap making sense.

Stuart is a physical shutdown defenseman. He's top-30 in the league in hits and second in blocked shots. I'm not sure who you're thinking of. He also is signed for 2 more years after this season at a cap hit lower than Simmonds (by $50,000).

I'm not saying that's a trade that Philly necessarily makes because I don't know how badly they need D. Unless they have the depth where they can afford to lose Simmonds, all that'd accomplish is filling one hole by creating another. I just think the above reasoning is way off.

I believe Stuart for Simmonds is good value. However it's not a trade I would want the Jets to make. As badly as the Jets need RW, they have too many offensive defensemen and Stuart is the only physical shutdown defenseman they have. That combined with Stuart's good contract should mean he's off the table for any reasonable return. Oduya should be moved for a winger but as mentioned he's not the player the Flyers would want of the two. The Jets would be better off shopping Oduya to teams other than the Flyers and the Flyers would be better off getting a stay-at-home D somewhere else.

F that. Try to find Simmonds like player or rookie like Read.

Flyers say hell no.

Jets shouldn't trade Stuart, it would open a hole bigger then the one they'd be filling. I wish Oduya was worth Read or Simmonds.

Wasnt it a year ago that Wayne Simmonds required a return of a great player and a pick? What happened?

Stuart and some kind of a pick would be a good deal for both teams.

Stuart is really undervalued being a physical presence, a stud defensively and also i don't think he's all that bad for first pass and has a heavy shot.

He can fight also. Well not against Thornton.

That's not even close.

I can't see the Flyers make the OP's trade (and I don't want to lose Stuart), but the Jets would easily say no to this proposal.

Yeah, can't see the Flyers moving Simmonds or Read either unless the player coming back was a better player than Oduya.
