Would love him in Chicago

We supposedly have a young goalie who is better than him that will be ready to come over from Europe next season so I wouldn't heisitate to trade him for somethig like this:

Bob + 2012 2nd for 2012 1st

or Bob + 2013 3rd for 2013 1st

or Bob for 2014 1st

(basically, if Chi wants to push back paying for Bob until later drafts they get a lesser compensation pick with him back)

Bob's athleticism and maturity really set him apart from most goaltenders. I really wished we had signed Vokoun for a year or two to allow BOB to grow up. Bryz is ruining his development and quite frankly ruining this team. Damn its hard not to love BOB.

Bob's dance might have pushed him to Giroux/Timonen level for me.

While I dont think we should write bryz off after one bad season, I would be extremely irritated if this team shipped out BOB in favor of taking a chance on bryz ever being the goalie we signed to a 9 year contract...

Vote for bob.

Loved Bob last year and love him even more this year. I really hope we're able to find a buyer for Bryz so we can rid ourselves of that ugly contract. In my eyes Bob has been solid enough to be a number 1 goalie in this league and the team seems to rally around him and play better.

I'd rather just keep him for the rest of his contract or at least until the deadline next season. Though Hovinen has very good numbers we don't know how he will do in North America- here are his stats http://eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=7472 .

No way do I agree to any of these trades with Bryz as our starter and a non-proven rookie. They'd better not trade Bob.

I assume if they traded Bob in the offseason, the Flyers would sign a backup and let Hovinen play in the AHL for a year. Bob is gone either this offseason or next (unless there is some way to kill the Bryz contract). He's gonna get a raise and with the Bryz contract on the books he's not getting it in Philly.

Bob is an RFA in 2013. We have this year + next year on his cheap rookie deal. Then we still have him as an RFA and at that point you decide if he is the #1 or not. Possibly trade him, but likely resign him for a couple more years.

Bryz/Bob works for me. NO ******* way I trade Bob and give the reigns to Bryz. No WAY. I think Bryz will turn it around, but if not, I have faith in Bob.

Maybe it'll be a rask/thomas situation from the last 2 years. Thomas looked like crap 2 years ago, Rask was solid, last year Thomas bounced back to amazing.

Exactly. Since Philly is a goalie graveyard, we are scared of having two good goalies because of the goalie controversy. But, look around the league - the best goalies have young goalies pushing them daily. You have to think a little competition will keep the veteran working hard and competing (versus a guy who knows he has the job).

Thomas/Rask
Luongo/Schneider
Quick/Bernier
Backstrom/Harding
Miller/Enroth
Lundquist/Biron (not a young guy, but a cheap solid backup)

Nothing wrong with Bryz/Bob for a couple of years. When the kid comes over, he has a year AHL hockey to play IMO. At least.

theres no question if we trade bob for assets it comes back to bite us in the ass for years..

his upside is massive.. theres no question he is the future, shame he is stuck behind bryz's contract..

i wonder how long bob will gladly sit behind Bryz and not ask for a trade or a chance to go play somewere else fulltime as a starter

Bryz is more likely forcing Bob to try as hard as he possibly can to get better and try and be #1

Keeping the status quo might just do the trick, for the first time in a long time when it comes to goaltending. Bobrovsky is showing signs of improvement and no doubt his development is being aided by having competition for starts - just as much as it is being hindered by not getting as many. When his contract expires, he's restricted - so we will retain his rights with a qualifying offer. The problem there is, his current salary cap hit is a little steep for a backup goaltender - especially given how much the starter is making. Bobrovsky easily earns his money, but will there be room for it in a couple of years?

Can't we bury bryz in the AHL?

Pretty sure the Flyers could still "Huet" Bryz.

He has a NMC, he'd need to agree to go.

unfortuantely those "older guys" all seem to be playing their ***** off....unlike our big money goalie

with that being said, we shouldnt be trading Bob this off-season
