Agreed. Magnus needs more time and confidence in the AHL. He also needs to rediscover driving to the net.

Hall was just down at the end of the game... knew he could've ended it

in the future, he will end those

Agreed, he's a better hockey player (skills and what not) then I thought he'd be. But Sutton and, to lesser extent this year, Whitney's resurgence as defensemen in Edmonton makes me leery of seeing Randy Carlyle as HC of this team. Both of these guys could barely get in the lineup there, but both can clearly play.

Not sure Eberle can carry a line. He needs a good player like RNH to let his talents shine.

Horcoff haters, will you take a pill already. He's overpaid. how is that your problem? that's Katz's problem. When we can't get or keep a player because of the 2 extra million that Horcoff makes, then you can complain about his contract.

So, he wears the C and you think he shouldn't. do you really think a C one someone else instantly makes the team better? Give your head a shake. this team's problems are far, FAR, deeper than who wears the C.

Yeah he's gotta bury that. I think he needs to work on his shot a little bit.

Finishing that kind of play is what separates a great player from a good player.

Absolutely stupid thread title. Horcoff failed the Oilers how? Because he didn't score? Neither did Eberle, Gagner or Hall. Horcoff is 50% at the shootouts (10/20). Not bad. I knew he was going five hole because he does a lot but he is good at it.

Glad Hemsky played good tonight. Hopefully it can increase his value next month.

Fair enough, but I think that applies for most players unless you're Malkin or Crosby. Can't think of many players out there who can look amazing and stand out while playing with scrubs all of the time.

J-Bo managed to do it before moving to Calgary... then he just stopped trying to score...

Yeah! Aren't you smart. What was I thinking? Of course MPS and Lander are going to develop their offensive game much faster playing 3rd and 4th line minutes and getting next to no minutes on the PP while playing in the NHL as opposed to playing on the top line in the AHL and logging tons of time on the top PP unit.

WHAT WAS I THINKING?

What were you thinking? Run back into your corner, troll.

Come back out of it when your team has been rebuilding for over a decade and if you like, I'll throw some snot-nosed comment your way without backing it up.

Seriously. MPS was setting up assists while in the AHL, but the goals still were not coming for him. It makes no sense for him to be playing in the AHL. It was nice that he got three shots on net tonight, but again nothing went in the net.

How many stupid decisions does Renney have to make before the media starts telling people to worry about the future of these kids?
The difference between Hall/Eberle/RNH is they've earned their spots through solid play constantly. I didn't even know MPS was playing tonight, In-fact we should have had someone who's scored more goals then him on the ice, Do you realize MPS, Whitney and Hordi all have 0 goals on the season? Minus whitney because hes been injured for 2 years, and Hordi because he plays 2 minutes a night for 20 games. MPS is not playing well enough to deserve the minutes and he even received them during this last recent strech and did nothing, he even got some PP time! He got first line, and PP time in the A and scored 1 goal in 10 games, in the AHL after scoring 15? last year in the NHL

In the future he needs to shoot the puck. He game is not deking...his hands aren't quick enough (ie Eberle and Hemsky)

He has a hell of a shot if he could just learn to control where it goes.

This is not a last place team as we get healthy which is great. I want Dumba and where we may end up, we may just get him.

Once again, sick of pinning this loss on one player. Horcoff IMO played of his better games and just because he didn't keep the Oilers alive, he gets the goat title.

Whenever Hall gets close, he tries to shoot five-hole. He needs to start trying to pick corners like he does from far out.

Yeah, he has the best first pass on the team by a mile, that much is evident. He was way slow footed on defense but seemed to get in a bit of a groove as the game went along. I'm not holding my breath but it would be so huge if he can remain at least relatively healthy for the next few years.

They can't pass to each other on the shootout.

He would be light years more effective if someone would coach him on a key fundamental flaw:

Hall handles the puck at "12 O'clock" (direct in front of his body) the entire route to the goalie. This is a dead-give-away there is a deke coming.

I believe its far better to keep the puck loaded in a shooting position, at your stickside and then you can really enhance the look by moving the puck around to at least 2 different positions...3 if your really feeling convinced you need to try a backhand.

Im pretty sure Gagners' move is (usually) an easy read for the same reason.

Bottom line is at some point in the attack...you have to do something to make the goalie respect a shooting option. Otherwise...no amount of stickhandling in the world is going to open up much for you...especially less than a foot off the ice.

In reality Hall had a chance to win it, he is the goat.

There is no goat tonight, everybody played their heart out.

I don't know where his infatuation with deking comes from. Your strength is your release, kid.

I wish Hall could pull that off. It's a "basic" shoot out deke but with his lethal wrister, it should be a cinch.

I think Hall can. Hemsky used to be able to as well. I think it just comes down to style of play more than anything else.

Players who rely on speed can be dangerous with scrubs. Smart players like Eberle need good players.

I would like to give props to Potter who has become somewhat of a whipping boy around here as of late. He played a confident game in the offensive zone and improved defensively as the game went along.

I hear you.
The deking part was bad enough but to deke on the same side that Luongo has already made 2 solid saves was a head scratcher.
