Corey Sarich to NYR

1 year remaining @3.6M. Limited NTC. What would Calgary be interested in?

Calgary needs Sarich as much as we need him, I think they'd ask for at least fair market value, which I'm assuming is a 2nd round pick and a fringe prospect.

Unless we're getting a 2nd for him, which is probably slight overpayment, I'd rather keep him short of Carson showing him up.

This.

I can see a 3rd and a decent prospect also working but if we are trading Sarge its for something in the future as it is another step towardsa rebuild.

LOL. We don't even have that bust in the organization anymore. I'd take a 2nd for Sarich or a middling prospect. Ie. Zucarello, Kondratek.

Sarich makes too much, unless we plan on trading Wolski or only carrying 12 forwards and 7 dmen (including Staal).

Now way am i giving up a 2nd round pick for Corey Sarich who at best will fill a 3rd pairing role for us. Its to much to give up in a ridiculously deep draft. This is in no way saying he is a bad player at all, i like his game alot, but if im going to spend a 2nd i want it counted on someone who is going to make more of an impact..

My offer:

Rangers Trade:
Wolski
Zucca
3rd 2012'

Flames:
Sarich

Gives the Flames a solid pick in a great draft, Zucca is a good player just needs a chance, and Wolski goes to even up salaries.

I'd do that, pretty fair deal and we do need a guy who is capable of playing a top 6 role until Glencross is back. After that Wolski can watch from the pressbox. And who knows, it is a contract year, maybe Wolski has a nice 30 game stretch for us.

This one is a no. Wolski fits a short term need. Stralman is like Brodie or JBo, just way worse defensively and not quite as fast, we have no need for him. I want either a late 2nd or a late 3rd and a prospect from NYR.

This is more then fair. But if the flames trade Sarich we are the softest backend in the league

I think he's worth a high 3rd or a low 2nd. He's always been great in the playoffs. Not the best skater, but he is physical and good defensively. Helps the PK a lot.

True, Giordano plays physically, but he'd be the only one left. We used to have a nasty blueline to play against. The game has changed though, and that aspect seems to be less important than it used to be.

Sarich was a frequent healthy scratch when the blueline was healthy. With Smith injured at the moment and Gio back in the lineup, he's geting the least IT among our D (13 mins last night). So when Smith is healthy again, he'll probably be back in the pressbox.

He's nice insurance for now but if the Flames drop out of the playoff race, it probably wouldn't take much to move him, just a mid pick.

Defensemen are at a huge premium right now. It's why we got Jones for our #3 AHL defenseman. It's not his value to the Flames that determines his worth, it's his value to a trading partner. He can still play against top 6 forwards and lots of teams need that. He and Hannan both have value if we decide to move them.

You definitely haven't watched Stralman anytime recently if you think he's way worse than those two.

If you look at the Ranger D the Left Side is stacked so no need for a lefty..........McDonaugh, Staal, Del Zotto............. Right side has Girardi but after that its Stralman and Bickel right now which needs to be upgraded.

I wouldnt worry if Sauer was healthy but at this point who knows if he will be back since he just had a set back from a concussion.

I am fine with a Stralman/Eminger 6th spot rotation. Once everyone is healthy Bickel and Woywitka should be sent down

so that leaves the need to replace Sauer and a rental like Sarich makes sense since he played for Tortarella...........Pavel Kubina also makes alot of sense............I think one of those two will be a Ranger come the deadline

how about Wolski( salary ), Bickel( if they need a D body back), 4th rounder for either one

He used to play for us, JBo is a top pairing defenseman. Brodie plays in the top 4. Anyone in the league could've signed him for dirt cheap and no one did. Rest assured, JBo or Brodie wouldn't have to wait until 2 months of hockey had been played to find a contract.

Again, did you read the part where I said you haven't watched him play recently?

Guess not.

He's been a revelation for us.
