EXCLUSIVE TVA Sports - Hamilton Bulldogs, a subsidiary of Canadians in the American League, moving to Laval.
Depending on what TVA Sports has learned from sources familiar with the matter, the farm team of Canadians would be transferred as early as the summer of 2013.
The Montreal Canadiens and imitate their old rivals in Toronto and could set up their branch a few miles, making it more efficient and, above all, cheaper multiple trips of their players, in one way or the other.
In Hamilton until 2013
According to the Vice-President, Communications of the Habs, Donald Beauchanp, the contract between the organization with his club and school ends at the end of the 2012-2013 season, which coincides with the maturity of the contract with Copps Coliseum in Hamilton.
Complex to build
In Laval, the Bulldogs would move into the future "sports and cultural complex" whose erection was announced in 2009, at the corner of boulevard Du Souvenir Boulevard and Daniel Johnson.
The City of Laval declined to comment. The press of Gilles Vaillancourt, Jean-Maurice Duddin, declined interview requests but did not deny the news.
The Bulldogs since 2002 belong to the businessman Michael Andlauer, a minority shareholder of the Habs. Mr. Andlauer, who owns a residence and a business in Laval, did not return our calls.
Of course they'll do well in Laval. Look how many people already go to the south shore to watch a practice. The idea behind it is that it will do very well. I think it will anyways.
And this right here is a wonderful example as to why the city of Hamilton doesn't deserve an NHL franchise.
That sucks. My office litteraly looks directly over Copps coliseum. It's nice having the Baby Habs so close. I hope they stay put. Hamilton is a dump as it is. Losing the Bulldogs would leave the downtown core a shell of it's former self and that's not so nice as it is!
That's too bad for the fans at the Hammer. I really don't think they'll get an NHL team, so AHL makes sense. Who knows though? Stranger things have happened.
The spotlight would grow bigger on the players, which could be a bad thing, but maybe this would result in games actually being shown on RDS or something.
This won't end well. As much as I like hockey , I liked the idea of the Bulldogs being far from Quebec to give them time to prepare. Expect people to scream for a player to be called up after one good game...
Support this. Maybe the kids would get somewhat acclimatized to Montreal so they don't become trouble as soon as they hit the big team, trouble that has to be traded for nothing and then flourish elsewhere. Also why the hell is Montreal's farm team in Hamilton to begin with??
Exciting news, but there are still issues with the construction of the arena. A few years ago, they were supposed to build a ± 8000 seat arena near Montmorency metro station. I can't remember why it didn't work out.
