Howe or Pronger in his prime would help this team the most.

Howe, please. Though I'll fall asleep with a smile on my face projecting Lindros as the #1 C with Hartnell and Jagr on his wings. We could call them the Legion of Groom.

Is anything really stopping us? If Roo has his stache on, that seems like the ideal name.

Lindros was the best player in the world and an unstoppable force for about 5 years. Howe cannot even compare to the impact Lindros has as a single individual. Pronger is close, but Lindros by far would have the biggest impact of any of the three.

Edit : Oh, and if we are truly putting things into perspective realative to todays NHL, Lindros would be at least a 120+ point player, not a measily 90 point guy.

Lindros was a 120 point player when he was a Flyer!
People forget that after Gretzky, Lemieux and Bossy, Lindros was 4th all time in PPG for a long time, him and Jagr in the 90's were the only people close to those guys. Put it this way, Crosby and Lindros up to this point in their careers (420 GP mark), Lindros was leading in PPG, in an era with less scoring.

Lindros. GP 420. P 593.
Crosby. GP 420. P 584.

If he would have played a full season. These are the stats he would have had for 82 games a year, while with Flyers.

I think in pure impact, if you could get a 'healthy' Lindros, there are not 10 guys in history who you would take over him.

Healthy lindros has a top 5 peak all time. You have to go with him then trade Giroux for Weber.

Seriously though, idk its hard. I would have to say Lindros but that's primarily because he's the one who got me into hockey so I'm a little biased and Howe's glory years were before my time.
No slight on bernie, but if any goalie from that era were to play today, even in their absolute prime, we'd be picketing out front of the wells Fargo center for them to bring bryz back...

My answer: Lindros.

A healthy prime Lindros would still at least be a 95-100 pt player, with his talent and skill. Though he may be suspended for half the season...

I would take Lindros, then use schenn, jvr and meszaros to get shea weber.

And roll with

Voracek-Lindros-Briere
Hartnell-Giroux-Jagr
Simmonds-Couturier-Read
Sestito-Talbot-Rinaldo

Weber-Gustafsson
Coburn-Timonen
Bourdon-Carle

I blame you for the mess I just made in my pants imagining those lines.

this has been a season long argument with a group of people ...........
Howe at peak was a point per game and Lindros was 1.5. Just for arguments sake.

We'll wait for the playoff beard to come in and see if we can make the line name stick.

For me, any of the 3 would obviously be a huge boost to the line-up, but I am drawn to Howe's more unassuming, businesslike character. Lindros and Pronger were always larger-than-life, gravitational personas, and I am an admirer of someone who just goes out, does his job very well and doesn't command the spotlight. I'm not trying to take away from either Lindros or Pronger, but this is a necessary choice among 3 superior options, and this point would sway my choosing.

One stipulation: Howe would have to play in his long pants.

yes lindros today would easily be above 100 points. We left it as a 90+ point big skilled center who can run people over.

Argument started out as what type player would benefit this team the most right now for a playoff run. It has since turned into, with my group of people, what player and their career year would you rather have right now.
