McKeen's Mock has Galchenyuk to the Habs.
Wouldn't that be hilarious to see the Pens draft a Subban with all the hate their fans have been spewing about P.K.

It would be a pretty bold move for them to take a goalie in the first round instead of a forward. But they surprised everyone when they took Joe Morrow last draft. Clearly they prefer going BPA.

I don't get McKeens mock. Why do the pens need an heir apparent to Fleury already? And is Winnepeg really going to draft a goalie at 7? doubt it.

A Czech player of note that could be 3rd round pick from QMJHL is Matej Beran ranked 3rd for skaters from the Q,he's a power forward/LW 6'5 208 lbs scoring at PPG.He needs work on his skating but works hard and is hard to knock off the puck, might be a good winger for Danny Pribyl when he comes over at the end of next season.

Yea I was looking over the list of NA skaters that are draft eligible and his name popped out. He would be a great 2/3 rounder. Him or Wilson,Suter,Hudon would work for me.

Nice Top 60 list

http://thehockeywriters.com/top-60-p...ason-rankings/

Like the words on Nic Kerdiles:

22. Nicolas Kerdiles - Left Wing, USNTDP, USHL

Here is what I wrote about Kerdiles in an article after the USNTDP won the Four Nations Cup:

“The kid is a pure sniper, if there ever was one. Showcasing his goal scoring abilities at the Four Nations Cup, Nic led the tournament in points with five (all of them goals). The ISS has ranked him in the top 30 each month since September.”

He has the body to fight for the goals around the dirty areas. The future Wisconsin Badger is a tough opponent and can show his creativity to make scoring chances for himself. A similar comparison is American former NHLer, John LeClair.

His production has been subpar in most major tournaments, as well as for the National team.

You have to be extremely certain of a player's potential to draft for an offensive role without the actual paper production.

That is true and I agree with you. But keep in mind that the USHL is a low scoring league. If it were up to me I would draft out of the Q,WHL and OHL before even getting near the USHL.

I sure hope he falls somehow. He could turn out to be a steal.

Me too. Problem is, he seems to be the type of player that a GM falls in love with and takes a reach. Kind of like McIlrath in 2010.

The CHL prospects game is next Wednesday, Feb. 1st.

Who are the players you are going to keep an eye on?

Team rosters are available here:

Faksa's production continues to increase, now with 44 points, including 22 goals in 39 games in his first season in the CHL. He's massive for a 17/18 year old at 6'3 and 208, and to top it off, he's probably the only good Czech skater in this draft class.

All of his goals are either things like this:

in which he uses his speed to create space at let rip an NHL caliber wrist shot

or this

where he's able to use his size to establish a presence in front of the net, and finish.

If Galchenyuk's gone by the time the habs pick, and Timmins picks Faksa, I'll be happy.

If Grigorenko, Galchenyuk and Forsberg are all gone by the time Montreal picks, I hope they trade down and acquire another 1st rounder. With the probability of PG making a move or two before the deadline for another 2nd, it would be nice to have 4 picks in the top 60. It's the best way to maximize a deep draft like this.

If those guys are gone, I'd like one of Gaunce, Girgensons, or Faksa. I rank them in that order, but if Timmins has them differently, I trust him.

I totally agree. Even with your ranking order, but since all of those players are (for now) ranked from 10-20, I think trading down 3-4 spots and picking up another 2nd - possibly a high one - or an interesting prospect might prove to be more efficient in our re-tooling effort. Say we sit in 8th, trade down to 11th and still land someone like Girgensons. Clever, no?
