So, unless there is a huge cap increase, I can't see where the money is coming from to sign Jagr. We don't even have enough to sign Carle, etc.

FORWARDS
Scott Hartnell ($4.200m) / Claude Giroux ($3.750m) / Brayden Schenn ($3.110m)
Matt Read ($0.900m) / Daniel Briere ($6.500m) / Jakub Voracek ($3.250m)
James Van Riemsdyk ($4.250m) / Sean Couturier ($1.375m) / Wayne Simmonds ($1.750m)
Tom Sestito ($0.550m) / Maxime Talbot ($1.750m) / Zac Rinaldo ($0.544m)

DEFENSEMEN
Matt Carle ($4.000m) / Chris Pronger ($4.921m)
Braydon Coburn ($4.500m) / Kimmo Timonen ($6.333m)
Andrej Meszaros ($4.000m) / Erik Gustafsson ($0.900m)
Andreas Lilja ($0.737m)

GOALTENDERS
Ilya Bryzgalov ($5.666m) / Sergei Bobrovsky ($1.750m)

CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $64,738,873; BONUSES: $3,555,000
CAP SPACE (21-man roster): -$438,873
uh wow, didnt really know about who get how much, im rating according to this season performance...
Hartnell easily earns his money, G should get more, Bryzgalov - no comment, Briere - imo way overpayed, why?, Voracek same money as jagr , JVR - .. ?? Couts will get more soon

Bad managment?

I am fine with Jagr for a bit cheaper than this year. The problem is our glut of wingers. I really want Briere on RW next year too. Which means Read/Simmonds have to be bumped to the 4th line.

Hartnell-Giroux-Jagr
JVR-Schenn-Voracek
Simmonds-Couturier-Briere
Whoever-Talbot-Read

ill just quote YOU, maybe you dont realise, what you type, that would make sense after all.

"Jagr is decent but not every 40 years old can take 80 NHL games and play on such a high level.

I say wait and see what happens before giving him another contract. See who is available.

Unless he signs very cheap. Anywhere between 2-2.5M"

You really think Jagr going so sign for 2m while Briere gets 6.5, JVR 4.2

*realize

Yes, I said wait and see who is available in off season. I made it bold for you. How is it not clear? WTF?

Why are you comparing Jagr to Briere or JVR? Briere received his deal when he was top UFA. JVR is far away from bust and may very well earn his contract as soon as this regular season or playoffs.

If Jagr thinks he can get a better deal he can walk. Flyers priority is defense, not offense in off season. So like I said previously, let’s wait and see.

Jagr is close to 40 and he probably won't be counted on playing more than 60 games ever again which is a factor in the equation.
He has exceeded expectations this year and has been a positive locker room presence in general which counts as well.

So anything between 2.5 and 3M would be appropriate in my opinion. Maybe think about a lower fixed salary plus bonus depending on games played.

There is no need to rush it now. Jagr won't sign anything before April or May anyway. They should know about Pronger by then.

for once you are right, i cant even compare Briere and JVR to Jagr, yet they earn way more than him, and yet you want him to sign for less
i say wtf after each of your posts.

Lidstrom makes less than Timonen. Selanne makes less that JVR, Briere, Richards, Carter, etc etc

Age affects your salary, even if you are a future HHOFer

For the 3rd or 4th time. I do not want to sign him yet.

Pronger earns more and he is on LTIR. Why not compare Pronger too?
